Charles Hamilton's Comeback Show

Rapper Charles Hamilton is working to get his career back on-track after stints in a mental hospital and in prison. The Harlemite has announced that he will be returning to performance with an upcoming show in New York City.

Hamilton explained that the "Charles Hamilton Experience" will feature rhyming, live production and DJing.

"August 14 at SOB's, 'The Charles Hamilton Experience'…you're going to get to know me a little bit better," he said. "I'm actually a lot quieter than people think. I always wanted to be quiet, so now I'm quiet in a loud setting. Everything I do live is what I'm going to be doing in my room: making beats live, DJing, recording songs live, playing the keyboard, singing…I want people to be aware that I can still make the boom-bap kinda music."

Blu On Charles Hamilton

Upstart rapper Blu offered some words of advice to the slowly-reemerging Charles Hamilton. Blue says that Hamilton needs to put his well-documented emotion and personal struggles into his art and stop giving the gossip blogs too much to write about.

"I would say Charles Hamilton needs to put all of his controversy into music instead of putting it out into the media," Blu told SOHH. "His personality speaks so much. I think if he would put that into his music, it would help his music speak louder. He's a dope brother though."

Charles Hamilton Returns

Troubled rapper Charles Hamilton may be on the road to a comeback. Hamilton spent a lot of 2010 in a mental institution and watched as his online buzz slowly faded away. But according to his Twitter page, the rapper is back in the studio hard at work and looking forward to sharing his music with fans again.

So who wants to hear some new music? I know it's been a good minute. I think I'll release something new when I hit 25,000 followers," he tweeted August. "Actually can we make something trend? I'll drop something for all my #Starchasers if we can make it trend.."

"I can't wait until you all hear the new music #Starchasers," he added.
