Game Facing Lawsuit

Rapper Game is facing a lawsuit filed by producer Infamous over a mixtape beat. Infamous claims that he offered the track to Game in 2010 for the rap star to determine whether or not he wanted to use it on a project. The producer didn't hear word from Game, allegedly, but the song surfaced on his "Skate On" track from the "California Republic" mixtape.
Infamous has said that he attempted to reach Game, but reportedly the Compton rapper never responded.
The suit comes on the heels of another suit filed by superproducer RZA last year against Game over the song "Heartbreak." Infamous is looking for $100,000 in compensation.

DJ Khaled Discusses RZA & Rev. Run

DJ Khaled took part in BMI's "How I Wrote the Song" panel last weekend. Sitting alongside other musical heavyweights, Khaled's resume is as impressive as anyone's--but there were two hip hop icons that the Miami star felt the need to pay homage to. Khaled told HiphopDX that sharing time with RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and Rev. Run of Run-D.M.C. made the experience uniquely special.
"That’s RZA from Wu Tang!" Khaled said enthusiastically. "For him to say that he wants to do some stuff with me is a blessing. He was a major influence on me as a producer and as an artist. He was a visionary. He was ahead of his time. He was so left field with his beats but they were so amazing. They’re timeless! You could listen to them now, from “Triumph” to “C.R.E.A.M.” and it’s just classic. It’s a blessing, man."
"On Rev Run’s situation, I would say “Peter Piper” is my favorite record of all time, actually," Khaled continued. "As a deejay, I used to love to cut it up and I still love to cut it up. The production, the breaks, from the intro, to [rhyming as Run], “Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good!” You know, that’s not a regular song. That’s a real special song. I’m excited. I might even ask him a few questions!

RZA Is Focused On Staying Drug-Free

Rapper/actor/producer RZA is adding a few titles to his already lengthy string of jobs. As the Wu-Tang leader has branched into directing with his feature film debut The Man With the Iron Fists, RZA told Chelsea Handler that he's gotten rid of some old habits as he looks to move into the next phase of his life and career.
“Making music and weed went together for me – many years," RZA said regarding his new, drug-free lifestyle. "I’ve been in the studio making hits, and weed was always there. But I’ve transferred myself.”
...Iron Fists is scheduled to be released in October of 2012, and stars Pam Grier, Lucy Liu and Russell Crowe--who starred alongside RZA in Ridley Scott's 2008 film American Gangster.
RZA will also be appearing on this season of Showtime's hit "Californication.

RZA Discusses Wu-Tang's Fans

The legendary Wu-Tang Clan's production has slowed down a lot since their 90s heyday, but crew members like Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man and RZA have kept the group's legacy alive through acclaimed solo releases, guest appearances, acting gigs, etc. RZA took time out to examine how having some of the most die-hard and committed fans in music has helped keep the Wu relevant almost 20 years since they debuted.
"I think fans resonate with the artists that they are fans of, and most of us in the crew are very electronically savvy," RZA said. "That applies to video games and applications for iPhones or iPads. Our fans are like us, and we enjoy a lot of the same things. That's why I think certain items resonate with them, because they enter our world and vice versa."

RZA On Hip Hop's Headphone Craze

With his new Chambers by RZA line, the Wu-Tang superproducer has thrown himself into the hip hop headphone fray that includes fellow stars like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Ludacris. RZA says that he doesn't like to fuel negative one-upmanship in hip hop, but he doesn't mind some friendly competition amongst rappers.
"I don't like to compete against my own crew, meaning, hip-hop," RZA told Billboard. "Hip-hop to me is a family. But you do want to sell the most records, have the biggest song and win the Grammy." That said, he was quick to set his line apart from the efforts of MCs. "With much respect to the other guys, [Dr.] Dre is a producer and I'm a producer," he said. "If anyone is into sound and dealing with sound, it's more the producer than a rapper. We get more technical."

RZA On Working With Kanye

RZA On Working With Kanye:
RZA has worked with Kanye on his highly-acclaimed 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and now the Wu-Tang legend has discussed contributing to the rapper's joint project with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne.
"Kanye asked me to send tracks while they were in Australia," RZA revealed in an interview. "I just thought I would send some sh*t that would be rugged. I know they can find the poppy, hip-hop places, but I wanted to send them some real edgy sh*t. Apparently they thought they were great - Kanye said, 'Send some more of that Wu sh*t!' -- In the past, when Jay-Z did Best of Both Worlds with R. Kelly, I thought it was a great album but the campaign went south because of personalities. With this project, it's the best of many worlds. These two guys have a great chemistry and a great relationship. I'm excited."

Gravediggaz Announce Reunion

Gravediggaz Announce Reunion
Horrorcore pioneers Gravediggaz have announced their reunion. With the buzz surrounding shock rappers like Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, the time appears to be right for the group, who virtually invented the style in the mid-90s, to reunite. Shabazz the Disciple, Frukwan, and RZA have already completed tracks. Prince Paul has yet to contribute, but is looking to take part in the project as well.
"RZA had called me last March -- he's like 'Yo, it's Gravediggaz time,' " explained Shabazz the Disciple. "I went down there; him and Frukwan (The Gatekeeper) already started on some songs. I went down there, did a couple of songs at his crib. Killah Priest was there. It was crazy 'cause me, Killah Priest, RZA and Frukwan was together in the studio. That was like '94 all over again."
"With everybody's schedules, it's kinda difficult to get everybody in one room right now. But, in the near future, it'll pop off," continued Shabazz. "It's almost done though, RZA told me all we need to do is three more songs, and it's a wrap. It was like a family reunion. It was like being away from your brothers for a minute, like being locked up. Like, I did a little 10-15, being away from my family, then I came home and I'm back with my family," the rapper continued. "It's a great feeling, not only for us, but for Hip Hop itself, because Hip Hop is suffering a famine. So, we're gonna create that balance that ya'll love us for."

Meagan Good Added To "Californication"

If you aren't familiar with the, um, work of actress Meagan Good, take a moment to Google image search her. We'll wait. [Pause.] So, yeah: Now you see why we're excited that Good has been cast as a recurring guest star on the Showtime series Californication.
Good will star as "Kali, an extremely hot up-and-coming hip-hop artist." Which is good news for anyone who has ever watch the mostly clothing-free antics of Californication. David Duchovny stars, along with recently cast guest star RZA.
