Drake To Build Recording Studio For Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion High School

(AllHipHop News) Young Money recording artist Drake is giving back to a local Philadelphia high school by promising to build a brand new recording studio for students aspiring to becoming performers. The “Started From The Bottom” rapper surprised kids at Strawberry Mansion High School with the announcement during a taping of an ABC News special.
“In the next few months I’m building a recording studio inside your school,” Drake told the students. “This about you. This about your principal. This about your future. I love you. I care about you. I want to see you succeed.”
Strawberry Mansion was featured on a World News with Diane Sawyer special report in May. The “Hidden America” segment covered the school’s principal Linda Cliatt-Wayman, faculty, and students in a what was dubbed “one of the most dangerous high schools in America.” Sawyer returned to SMHS to do an update on the school’s progress and brought Drake along to speak with the students.

VANESSA VEASLEY X ACE OF LA X BLKDMNDS “TAKE NOTES”

Vanessa Veasley, Ace of LA, and BLKDMNDS team up to bring you the first girl vs. kicks shoot staring the illusive Yeezy 2 titled "Take Notes".
The Kanye West x Nike Air Yeezy 2 is the second installment of Nike's collaboration with Kanye West; three years after the original Air Yeezy marked the sneaker brand's first collaboration with a non-athlete. Love him or hate him, West sparked a global frenzy with this release. (& Yes, those are his design notes pictured)
Choosing Vanessa Veasley for this image was a no brainer as she has quickly become known for being the urban model with the most product collabs with skate, streetwear, & counter-culture lifestyle brands. She has also become a respected force behind the camera as well, art directing & consulting for budding and established brands.
Personally, Vanessa Veasley also looks up to Kanye West. "I've worked with him twice in my video vixen days ("Wouldn't Get Far" & "Amazing") & both times he had a polite yet commanding energy. I love that in a time when so many people love to tell others to "stay in their lane", he never has! It inspires me, respectively, not to stay in mine. To do me & expend as much creative energy I can in as many areas as my heart desires."

Kanye West's Pricey Sneakers

Kanye West is well-known for his affinity for the finer things. It looks like a pair of his sneakers have now reached the same exclusive status of the uber-expensive items the rapper himself is known to rock. A pair of the star's Air Yeezy 2 Nike sneakers are reportedly getting auctioned for over $90,000.
The shows retail for $245, but bids have begun at almost $100,000.
Kanye has been wearing the shoes for several months, but the official release date for Nike's Air Yeezys is June 9, 2012.

CONCORDS CREATE CHAOS, BUT NO MURDERS AS RUMORED

Before the turn of midnight, the release of the “Concord” Air Jordan 11s caused mayhem at several malls and shopping centers across America.  Several malls, who planned for a midnight release of the highly sought after shoes, were forced to close and cancel their plans at the orders of local police including Barton Creek Mall in our hometown of Austin, TX.
Line jumping was a frequent problem at many locations and often provided the catalyst for violence between those hoping to get a pair of the coveted shoes.  The topic of violence received great attention when there was word that an 18-year-old Tyreek Amir Jacobs was murdered for his Concords.
Immediately getting a viral push across social media including a retweet from CNBC’s Sports Business reporter Darren Rovell, the supposed victim’s name became a trending topic on twitter.
With some basic journalism work by Justin Fenton at the Baltimore Sun, this breaking story appeared to be nothing more than a well orchestrated rumor.  First off, local police in the DC area refuted hearing any reports of such a crime.  The next big thing uncovered was that the photo of the supposed victim, Tyreek Amir Jacobs, appears to be lifted from the NAACP’s Legal Defenders blog the just so happens to be a stock photo anyone can purchase for $1.43.
At the time of the writing of this post, there have been no credible media outlets that have reported this rumor to have any truth to it and we hope that to be the case.  Much negative media attention has come from the release of the Concords, but the worst kind of bad news spread around is that to not even be the truth.

Tinie Tempah Bought Marty McFly Shoes?

Futuristic Nikes designed to resemble the ones worn by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly in Back To the Future II were sold to British rapper--for $37,500. Tempah says it was just something he did in the moment.
"It was a total spur of the moment decision," says the rapper. "I was really touched in the moment by the presentation and next thing I knew I owned these iconic sneakers."
Tinie is reportedly a devout fan of both Back to the Future and sneaker-collecting.
The proceeds from the shoe auction will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The Demonization Of LeBron James. PAY Attention!!!!!!! Says Maverick Carter

“If LeBron were an IPO, I’d buy it … At 21, I wasn’t remotely as mature as LeBron.” — Warren Buffett
Now that the NBA season is over, I have taken a moment to reflect. The lasting memory is not of the glorious success of the Mavs. It is of LeBron James and the season-long media/fan obsession with seeing him and the Heat fail. As one weary sportscaster put it, “We discuss LeBron as if he was our media Facebook status.”
It occurred to me that if all I knew about someone is that he announced a job move and staged it so that $2 million in cash would be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America, my first reaction would probably be, “Now there’s a person with media savvy who is also a good person at heart.”  Add the fact that the donated cash was virtually all the advertising revenue from that single event and I would feel reassured it was not just a ploy for disguised greed.  If I further discovered that another $1 million in computers and Nike equipment was spread among eight Boys and Girls clubs – most notably Akron, and Cleveland, I would feel even better about the donor who gave back something significant – not just empty words and a wave – to the cities he was raised and was employed.
But if I knew nothing more, I would probably scratch my head about why the network that aired the announcement only made a minor footnote of the $3 million chartable aspect of the event.  And I would scratch my head again if the donor is primarily blamed for the event, when the worst part about it was the publicity, controlled by the network. If I took a moment to reflect, I would say, “Wait a minute. ESPN controlled the sickening number of promotional ploys leading up to the decision. Only ESPN could create the hype because only ESPN controls the airspace.” Then I would say, “For all I know ‘The Decision’ was ESPN’s title.”  Clearly, ESPN made the decision to announce the upcoming decision over and over again, day and night as if it was the second coming of Jesus Christ, instead of the second team for King James. Yet, the demon as crowned by the media was James, not the media itself.  This was the beginning of the demonization of LeBron James.
So let’s add a few other facts. The City of Cleveland and the donor’s prior employer had the benefit of his services for seven years.  During that time the employer’s product (a team) went from mediocre-at-best with a half empty arena to a team on the verge of being the best in the world with a frenzied sold-out arena.  The owner made millions. The local economy grew by millions per year. Yet the employee who is leaving didn’t say anything bad about the City before he left. In fact, he said he loved them and he understood their frustration. His kind words came despite knowing they were burning his uniform in effigy and creating as much venom as their imagination could muster.
In response to the employee’s resignation, the employer’s principal owner called him a “coward”, who was “selfish” and one who committed an act of “betrayal” for exercising his lawful right to pick a new employer. Objectively, on those facts, I hope we would all conclude that if the employee gave up millions of dollars in pursuit of a championship, that kind of selfishness is not so bad.  The reprehensible selfishness would have been demanding all the money he could get even if it hurt the teams salary cap – financial stability.

Nike SB Paul Rodriguez 2.5 "Tiffany"

Nike SB Paul Rodriguez 2.5 "Tiffany"
The "Tiffany" colorway has hit Nike Skateboarding once again for what seems to be another perfect match. "Tiffany" Blue has already hit a pair of Janoski's and has also inspired number four on our list of The Best 50 Nike SB Dunks--it's safe to say that this colorway works. The latest to get the Tiffany treatment is the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5. Nubuck hits the side panel, tongue, and toe while leather makes up the rest. Keep on the lookout for this release later this summer.
