Dawn Richard Doesn't Regret Danity Kane

Dawn Richard, in a recent interview with EMERGE magazine, revealed that she made the most of her time at Bad Boy Records as a member of the girl group Danity Kane and never saw the experience in a negatively light, despite some speculation that she was bitter over her time with the group.
Richard says she was happy to move on, but didn't let any negativity enter her space in regards to her time with Danity Kane.
"There were no drawbacks. I didn’t allow them," she said. "When one chapter closes, you have to start a new one. For me, if you allow yourself to think there are drawbacks then there will be some. I decided that I would just go harder and find a way to stay dancing inside the music."

Dawn Richard Leaves Bad Boy?

Dawn Richard, formerly of Diddy Dirty Money, has announced that she is doing her own thing. The singer has parted ways with Diddy's Bad Boy label, and says that the split has been amicable thus far. Knowing the label's history, that's sort of an anomaly.
"“Puff has been really great with being supportive of me starting a solo career, and he’s agreed to let me go from Bad Boy," she says. "I’m really grateful to him. He didn’t have to do that. He could have been what they say that he would be, and he wasn’t at all. He gave me a business decision. It was a very amicable decision. Now, it’s just about the music, and I want to make him and them proud of believing in me enough to let me go try it.”
Good luck to her.

Dawn Richard On Her Career

Dawn Richard revealed in a recent interview just how uncertain she was following the dissolution of her first group Danity Kane. The singer/songwriter soon resurfaced as part of Diddy Dirty Money, but she says there was definitely a period where she wasn't sure what was going to happen next.
“There was no solo career, contrary to popular belief," she says. "I didn’t know where the next check was coming from and I refused to stay in that position.”
“No one will trust in you if you don’t trust in yourself," she added. "In the beginning it was feeling sorry for what I’ve been through but as a woman now? I love who I am. Every time I fall, I feel like I dodge the next crack.”
