Lil Wayne, Eminem Hit the Record Books
Lil Wayne and Eminem have gotten into the Guinness World Records. It was announced that, to coincide with Social Media Day, the two rappers have both reached historic numbers in terms of online fan-dom.
Lil Wayne's Facebook page has the Most "Likes" on a Facebook Item, Weezy's fans posted 668,198 comments, in response to a challenge posted on February 15, 2011 to break the record set by Oreo cookies. Wayne's fans posted over a half-a-million comments in less than 24 hours.
Eminem's official page has 42.5 million "Likes," alongside major brands like Facebook itself, YouTube.com, Zynga and pop artist, Lady Gaga.
"There's still a world of possibility in the social media space for new records as services emerge and existing ones increase their penetration," Barrett told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "There are a few landmark figures which will surely be passed in the next few years, who will be the first Twitter user to amass 100 million followers? Which Facebook page will be the first to reach 100 million likes? Whoever it is, you can be sure that Guinness World Records will be there to recognise all of these milestone achievements."

The Demonization Of LeBron James. PAY Attention!!!!!!! Says Maverick Carter
“If LeBron were an IPO, I’d buy it … At 21, I wasn’t remotely as mature as LeBron.” — Warren Buffett
Now that the NBA season is over, I have taken a moment to reflect. The lasting memory is not of the glorious success of the Mavs. It is of LeBron James and the season-long media/fan obsession with seeing him and the Heat fail. As one weary sportscaster put it, “We discuss LeBron as if he was our media Facebook status.”
It occurred to me that if all I knew about someone is that he announced a job move and staged it so that $2 million in cash would be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America, my first reaction would probably be, “Now there’s a person with media savvy who is also a good person at heart.” Add the fact that the donated cash was virtually all the advertising revenue from that single event and I would feel reassured it was not just a ploy for disguised greed. If I further discovered that another $1 million in computers and Nike equipment was spread among eight Boys and Girls clubs – most notably Akron, and Cleveland, I would feel even better about the donor who gave back something significant – not just empty words and a wave – to the cities he was raised and was employed.
But if I knew nothing more, I would probably scratch my head about why the network that aired the announcement only made a minor footnote of the $3 million chartable aspect of the event. And I would scratch my head again if the donor is primarily blamed for the event, when the worst part about it was the publicity, controlled by the network. If I took a moment to reflect, I would say, “Wait a minute. ESPN controlled the sickening number of promotional ploys leading up to the decision. Only ESPN could create the hype because only ESPN controls the airspace.” Then I would say, “For all I know ‘The Decision’ was ESPN’s title.” Clearly, ESPN made the decision to announce the upcoming decision over and over again, day and night as if it was the second coming of Jesus Christ, instead of the second team for King James. Yet, the demon as crowned by the media was James, not the media itself. This was the beginning of the demonization of LeBron James.
So let’s add a few other facts. The City of Cleveland and the donor’s prior employer had the benefit of his services for seven years. During that time the employer’s product (a team) went from mediocre-at-best with a half empty arena to a team on the verge of being the best in the world with a frenzied sold-out arena. The owner made millions. The local economy grew by millions per year. Yet the employee who is leaving didn’t say anything bad about the City before he left. In fact, he said he loved them and he understood their frustration. His kind words came despite knowing they were burning his uniform in effigy and creating as much venom as their imagination could muster.
In response to the employee’s resignation, the employer’s principal owner called him a “coward”, who was “selfish” and one who committed an act of “betrayal” for exercising his lawful right to pick a new employer. Objectively, on those facts, I hope we would all conclude that if the employee gave up millions of dollars in pursuit of a championship, that kind of selfishness is not so bad. The reprehensible selfishness would have been demanding all the money he could get even if it hurt the teams salary cap – financial stability.

PlayStation Network Hacker Is Now Working For Facebook
Infamous computer hacker, George Hotz, has reportedly cleaned up his act and got himself a 9-to-5. According to report by the iPhone Download Blog, the hacker notoriously known for being the first person to unlock the Apple iPhone back in 2007 and, for being sued by Sony after posting instructions on how to install third-party software onto your Playstation 3 (which, in turn, caused the hacker group Anonymous to bring down Sony's PSN this past Spring) has been hired by Facebook as a software engineer. Maybe Cam'ron was right: crime does pay.

Soulja Boy Says Hackers Posted Rant
Soulja Boy found himself in the middle of controversy after a racist and homophobic rant was posted on his Facebook page, during which it appeared the rapper blasted white people for coming to his Facebook page to criticize his music. Following the expected backlash, Soulja Boy has issued an official statement saying that the post in question was not his, but hackers who used to be the administrators of his account.
"I wanted to clear the air and let everyone know that my Facebook got hacked," Soulja Boy said. "I had administrators on my account that no longer work with me. The hackers used these old accounts [to] post hateful messages. This is not done by me or anyone on my team and I'm upset that I am being labeled as a racist and homophobic person."

Latest Adean export: Beauty Queens for Mexican narcos
MEXICO CITY — Mexican drug lords may be importing more than cocaine from the Andean region. It looks as if they're also bringing in beauty queens and models as girlfriends.
The latest case may be that of Juliana Sossa, the winner of a 2008 Colombian beauty pageant, who was arrested Tuesday alongside a man who's accused of leading a drug gang.
Sossa, 25, wore a bulky black parka and loose blue jeans when police took her on a perp walk, a far cry from the revealing swimwear that she dons in publicity videos posted on YouTube.
Police said Sossa unwittingly helped them track down Jorge Balderas Garza, who's known by the nickname "El J.J." and is suspected of leading a drug gang, when she wrote on her Facebook page that she lives in the Bosques de Chapultepec neighborhood of Mexico City. Police said they knew Sossa was the alleged drug lord's girlfriend.
"I like modeling and I've participated in contests like Antioquia 2008 and others that are less well known," Sossa wrote on her Facebook page, adding that she speaks Spanish, English and Italian.
In addition to drug-trafficking charges, her boyfriend is accused of shooting Paraguayan soccer star Salvador Cabanas in the head in a Mexico City nightclub on Jan. 25, 2010. The news shocked Paraguayans, who'd hoped the star would lead the national squad to last summer's World Cup. Though Cabanas recovered, his playing days are over.
About three weeks after the shooting, Interpol authorities issued a red alert for Balderas Garza's capture, finally tracking him down this week.
In November, police arrested Juliana Lopez Aguirre, who's also a Colombian, alongside Harold Mauricio Poveda, a narco suspect known as "El Conejo," or "The Rabbit."
Police say Poveda was the go-between from the Beltran Leyva narcotics gang to Colombian drug traffickers.
The Colombian model had been nearly arrested two years earlier when security agents burst into one of Poveda's properties while she celebrated her birthday. News reports described the property as a "narco-mansion" with a Jacuzzi in a grotto, a dance floor and two pet black panthers.
Another erupted last April and touched on Alicia Machado, a Venezuelan who won the 1996 Miss Universe crown, then was caught in a controversy about her weight gain and Donald Trump's remark that she was an "eating machine."
Machado, a Mexico City resident, found herself in the news again when a report from a secret witness under federal protection that claimed she was involved with Gerardo Alvarez Vazquez, an accused kingpin known as "El Indio," or "The Indian," filtered out to Mexican media.
The witness asserted that Machado had borne Alvarez's daughter, Dinorah, in 2008 and that several drug lords from the Beltran Leyva gang came to the baptism.
Through a spokeswoman, Machado denied the allegation, saying it "was totally false because the father in question is a very respectable businessman."
Another model, Angie Sanclemente, who was crowned Coffee Queen 2000 in her native Colombia, was arrested in Argentina last May. Prosecutors said she'd married a Mexican drug lord known as "El Monstruo," or "The Monster," before relocating to Argentina to manage young women ferrying cocaine to Europe via Mexico.
Gangsters in Mexico also have turned their eyes to homegrown beauty queens. Best known is Laura Elena Zuniga, who was crowned Miss Sinaloa 2008 and went on to capture the title of Miss Hispanic America the same year in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Upon her arrest late that year, Zuniga said she had no idea her boyfriend was a leader of the Juarez Cartel. A judge believed her and set her free in 2009.

Facebook NOT shutting down March 15
(Mashable) -- There's a silly rumor exploding on the Internet this weekend, alleging that Facebook is shutting down on March 15 because CEO Mark Zuckerberg "wants his old life back," and desires to "put an end to all the madness."
We have official confirmation from Facebook Director of Corporate Communications Larry Yu that the rumor is false.
We asked him via e-mail if Facebook was shutting down on March 15, to which he responded, "The answer is no, so please help us put an end to this silliness."
He added, "We didn't get the memo about shutting down and there's lots to do, so we'll just keep cranking away like always."The spurious report was started by a site to which we refuse to link, known for its reports of impending attacks of alien spaceships and false reports of a Michelle Obama pregnancy.Let's think about this for a minute. Would Facebook decide to shut down the company just a few days after announcing a round of funding, consisting of $450 million from Goldman Sachs and $50 million from Russian investment firm Digital Sky Technologies, on a valuation of $50 billion?
The fact that this absurd hoax spread so efficiently makes us wonder: Will people believe anything?
FACEBOOK WILL END ON MARCH 15th!
PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.
“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”
Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.
“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”
Zuckerberg said that the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.
“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”
Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.
“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”
However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.
“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.”
Those in the financial circuit are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.
But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He says he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.
“I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”
The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.
Its not going to happen and i'll explain later....

Newark Mayor Cory Booker Speaks On $100 Mill Donation From Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg
Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg joined the ranks of openly philanthropic billionaires Friday with a 100-million-dollar grant to a troubled New Jersey public school system. He made the announcement on the Oprah Winfrey show, accompanied by the mayor of Newark and governor of New Jersey, who vowed to turn the city’s failing school system in a national model of excellence. “I’ve committed to starting the Startup: Education foundation, whose first project will be a 100 million dollar challenge grant” to Newark’s public school district, Zuckerberg said.
Zuckerberg, 26, jumped to the top ranks of Forbes Richest Americans list this week with an estimated net worth of 6.9 billion dollars, which made the Harvard drop-out the 35th richest American and second-youngest self-made billionaire. With this gesture Zuckerberg is joining forces with the likes of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, who earlier this year launched a campaign to get other billionaires to donate most of their fortunes to charity. Gates appeared in a video on the foundation’s Facebook page thanking Zuckerberg for his contribution and urging him to devote time as well as money to the effort.
“Your involvement in the years ahead — your thinking, your energy — will be even more important than your resources,” Gates said.
“Improving education in this country is the key to its future, making it a just place, achieving the full potential of all students. There’s a lot to learn.”
Oprah repeatedly chided Zuckerberg for wanting to make the donation anonymously, saying his shyness and desire for privacy should not outweigh the impact of a public announcement. “He needs to make this public so that more people will join in and give money,” the talk show diva and noted philanthropist insisted, to the applause of her studio audience.
Zuckerberg’s act of public generosity comes a week ahead of the October 1st release of “The Social Network,” a Hollywood film on the birth of Facebook that casts a harsh light on its founder. Promises of elitism, geekdom, betrayal and greed are fueling anticipation for the film and early reviews have mentioned the potential for it to be a contender in the Academy Awards. Facebook and Zuckerberg have not sanctioned the film, which takes viewers back to Harvard, where Zuckerberg was a student with dazzling computer skills who didn’t fit in at the status-conscious elite university. Zuckerberg downplayed the film as an act of fiction. “Oh, well, I mean, it’s a movie. It’s fun, you know what I mean? A lot of it is fiction, but even the filmmakers will say that they’re trying to build a good story,” he told Oprah. “And I can promise you, this is my life so I know, it’s not that dramatic. The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hard work, but maybe it will be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama.”
Zuckerberg allowed Oprah’s cameras into the modest rental home he shares with his long-time girlfriend – a school teacher he met at Harvard who inspired him to get involved in educational reform – in Palo Alto, California. He said he chose Newark – a city to which he has no significant ties – because he believed in the leadership of Mayor Cory Brooker – whom he met at a conference in July – and Governor Chris Christie. “I’ve had a lot of opportunities in my life, and a lot of that comes from, you know, having gone to really good schools,” Zuckerberg said. “And I just want to do what I can to make sure that everyone has those same opportunities.”
The five-year grant will help reform a district of 40,000 children in which last year only 40 percent of students could read and write at grade level by the end of third grade, only 54 percent of high school students graduated and just 38 percent enrolled in college.
