Schoolboy Q Relates To 50 Cent

Schoolboy Q recently spoke on his admiration for hip hop superstar 50 Cent. Q says that he connects to 50's music, despite the fact that there may be more skilled rappers out there.

"We got the same sh*t going on. Everything he talk about is the same sh*t I did. I relate to Fifty...I can listen to 50 Cent and tell he really mean what he's saying. He's one of them n***as that got away with confidence. Fifty ain't got the best bars, he ain't got Jay-Z bars but his confidence on a record -- you can't deny it. I seen where he was doing an interview about Ja Rule during the beef sh*t, he was saying that any n***a that just getting out of jail that don't know what to do with himself is getting into the rap game. Recently when I just got out of jail I didn't now what to do I wasn't going to try and finish playing football. That's when I was f*cking around with rapping, I wasn't really rapping but when I heard that I was like f*ck it...I really went hard at it. Fifty probably saved my life on some real sh*t."

50 Cent To Perform At SXSW

Hip hop superstar 50 Cent has been announced as a performer at this SXSW Festival. 50 will perform his classic 2003 albumGet Rich or Die Tryin' in its entirety during the Shady 2.0 Showcase at this year's festival.

50 will be joined on the bill by Shady's Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf.

Big K.R.I.T., Schoolboy Q, Action Bronson, Don Trip, STS and The Foodchain will also perform for the Sway Calloway-hosted "The Next Phase."

ScHoolboy Q On Pot

Rapper ScHoolboy Q is straight up about who he is. But he's also very clear about who he is not. The West Coast rhymer 'introduced' himself to fans, but dismissed anyone that tries to pigeonhole him as a 'weed rapper.'

"ScHoolboy Q is a n***a from L.A. that wanna get high, do music, and raise his daughter," he said. "I'm [not] a weed rapper."

"I don't just talk about weed. That's why I didn't do any weed songs on this new project," he added.

Nonetheless, Q wants to record with arguably the most famous 'weed rapper' on the planet.

"I gotta get a song with that n***a. ...Snoop...can I get a song? DPG, my n***a," he says. "I just want a verse."

ScHoolboy Q Hints At A$AP Rocky Collab

ScHoolboy Q could possibly record a full-length album with fellow emcee A$AP Rocky. Speaking with Maurice Garland, Q explained that both he and Rocky are very interested in following through on the project--but he stopped short of claiming it to be a done deal.

"I don't have an answer [for when it's gonna drop]," he said. "We're trying, we're trying. He's on the road, I'm on the road. We're gonna try and get it together. You gotta have it sound right - two of the hottest n***as coming up. I'm not a cocky n***a, but I call myself [one of] the hottest n***as [coming up in the game]. But yeah, Rocky, we gotta do it."

Q touched on parenthood, as well.

"It's cool [being a father], my little baby Joy-Joy. I just talked to right before I went on stage," he said. "She's with me in the studio - my baby's a studio baby…everybody know. Everybody knows my daughter - [Dr.] Dre, everybody." .
