T.I. Defends Lil Wayne's NYC Comments

Lil Wayne's "I don't like New York" comments have continued to spark conversation and a small backlash against the New Orleans native amongst some fans in the Big Apple. Fabolous referenced the remarks and a senator even blasted Wayne for his comments, but fellow southern hip hop star T.I. told Hot 97 that people probably took what Wayne said too literally and too far.
"When I first came in the game, it was a feat for a Southern artist, let alone an Atlanta artist, to make his way up to Hot 97 and get himself mix show play, let alone...heavy rotation," T.I. told Angie Martinez, which led to them discussing Wayne's remarks.
"You gotta understand where a man coming from," said T.I. "I'm not saying I support anyone not liking New York. What I'm saying is, people who haven't gone through that process of having their freedom taken from you...you have to take all this into consideration."
Wayne, of course, was incarcerated in New York's Riker's Island for the better part of a year.
"I don't think he meant nothin' by it. I don't think he meant any disrespect," added T.I.

Nicki Minaj Calls In To Hot97 To Address Summer Jam

After pulling out of her appearance at Sunday’s Summer Jam, Nicki Minaj phoned into Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97 to address her absence. She explained what led to the decision, her reaction to Peter Rosenberg’s diss, and the lesson she learned from Lil Wayne, who made the executive decision to yank YMCMB from the lineup. She also fired back at Flex for belittling her album sales, reciting exact figures.
“When you disrespect Nicki Minaj, you’re disrespecting my fans,” said Nicki, who plans to make it up to her Barbz by playing a free show in New York City.

Big Sean Defends the Kardashians

Rapper Big Sean defended the always-controversial Kardashian clan in a recent interview with Hot 97. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper says that, despite their polarizing reputation, the Kim, Khloe and Co. are a lot cooler than the public may think.
"I was trying to see if there were any more of them," Sean joked. "All of them are nice, too. None of them are a**holes. None of them have egos. Everybody cool, man. It's just like, I think they're people who really took advantage of their situation, of their popularity and made it into an empire. They're rich, they're role models, they do positive things, they're living their life. You gotta give big ups to them for that. Straight up."

Amber Rose On Her Image:

Amber Rose discussed her feud with Funkmaster Flex and her controversial image with XXL. The vixen says that Cipha Sounds helped ease the tension between she and Flex, and she knows how her image has led to certain assumptions about her character.
"I called him an a**hole for bullying me," Amber told XXL. "[Hot 97 radio host] Cipha [Sounds] was like, 'Listen, maybe you have to understand that that's just his job and he's really not like that.' I'm a very loving, compassionate person, who understands a lot of things. So, I was like, 'You know what...a lot of people think I'm a filthy whore, they think I leak my pictures, they think I use people to get on and I'm really not that person, so maybe I should give Flex a chance.'"
"I hit up Flex like, 'Cipha said you're really a great guy and I want to give you the benefit of the doubt,'" she continued."He said the same thing to me. He said follow me and come to Hot 97. I'm going to do Hot 97 with Flex."

Amber Rose On Funkmaster Flex

Amber Rose has no love for Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex. The vixen and the DJ have had their differences in the past. mostly stemming from comments Flex has made about Rose during his radio show. But during an interview with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg, Rose explained her distaste for the Funkmaster.
“I hate Funkmaster Flex, but I love you guys,” Rose explained. “He’s an a**hole, man. He’s just ignorant in every single way possible. Everything that he says is just rude and ignorant. When people come in to talk to him, he kisses everybody’s ass, and then when he leaves he talks about everybody.”
In 2010, Flex called Rose an “extra" before going on a tirade about her character.
“She seems like she’s not smooth, my brother,” Flex explained. “She’s on Twitter…she just seems like, a little unhappy. The movie dropped, and then she said she’s coming out with the reality show. There’s no closure to her.”
Rose still claims she wants to make peace with Flex, however. “I will give him that benefit of the doubt because people really don’t give me that,” she says.

Amber Rose On Loving Wiz Khalifa

In case you didn't know, Amber Rose loves Wiz Khalifa. Like, really, really loves him. The voluptuous starlet reiterated her neverending affection for the skinny rapper from Pittsburgh in a recent radio interview with Hot 97.
Amber says that this is the strongest love she's ever felt in her life.
"I never loved like this in my life. He is my life," she says. "I would die for him. That’s how much I love him. We will get married. We will have babies but we have time. We have the rest of our lives. We always say, we are going to be together forever, but when it happens it happens. We’re not in a rush."

50 Cent On Crossover Appeal:

50 Cent On Crossover Appeal:
50 Cent recently spoke to MTV about the difference between his career and his mentor/cohort Eminem. Despite the two being affiliated for years, 50 acknowledged that Em has had a different road than 50 Cent as he discussed the benefits and detriments of being a crossover artist in hip hop.
"You can't compare Eminem and 50 Cent's career on any level," 50 added. "Eminem doesn't know what the inside of Hot 97 looks like. He's never even had to go there. So the top 40 and crossover-radio platforms are detrimental to the success of an Eminem project, and for me to get to the top 40 or crossover space, I have to have music that performs so well on your Hot 97s and Power 106s of the world until it actually goes up to that point."

Mr. Cee's Tranny Speaks

Mr. Cee's Tranny Speaks
Brooklyn, aka "Mister Cee's Tranny" self-recorded a web video explaining the incident that led to he and the Hot 97 DJ being arrested for lewd conduct. Also referred to as 'Pink Lady,' Brooklyn claims that he is not a prostitute and no sex act took place in the car.
"I kinda just wanted to set the record straight and let everybody know that nothing, indeed, happened in that car," Brooklyn says in the video. "I feel like it's an Internet blog that got totally out of hand. A lot of things I read are just totally not true about me and my character. I'm not a transsexual, I'm a drag queen...I feel like the media in a whole has made me out to be this person, I feel just to get at him for some reason or to get a story. It's definitely not true."
"I'm definitely not a prostitute. I'm not, in any way, shape or form. I don't do things like that," he added. "I don't have sex for money. I don't need to have sex for money. I make enough money on my own...I feel like people, nowadays, will do anything and everything for money. This whole thing I feel like just a big a** entertainment scheme. I don't understand why I was brought into it."
