Diddy Close To Signing The Weeknd

Canadian singer/songwriter The Weeknd could be close to inking a deal with Bad Boy Records. Label CEO Diddy is reportedly very interested in signing the star, even going so far as to fly him down to Miami to party during Memorial Day weekend.

Drake, a longtime collaborator with the Weeknd, hinted that the singer was being offered deals from a myriad of labels.

A photo surfaced that showed The Weeknd enjoying Memorial Day Weekend with Diddy, some other friends and Diddy's rumored girlfriend, singer Cassie.

The Weeknd To Make U.S. Debut

Canadian act The Weeknd will be making its first U.S. onstage appearance next week in New York City. The Weeknd will headline Vice magazine’s first annual Upfront Extravaganza on September 15th at Skylight One HansonA-Trak, Tanlines, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Black Lips and Unknown Mortal Orchestra are among the other acts slated to also perform at the event. The Weeknd has risen to prominence via several mixtapes and popular singles, but has only played a few shows over the past several months. 

Drake On Working With The Weeknd

Drake talked a little about working with R&B upstart The Weeknd on Drake's upcoming sophomore album Take Care. Drizzy says that The Weeknd has inspired him to be a better singer and songwriter.

"He’s on my album a lot. We really collaborated a lot on this album,” explained Drake. “Not only did he inspire me to get out there and sing better on stage, but he inspired me writing-wise, music-wise, just to better my product."

"To hear someone with an incredible body of work, it's rare. It's very inspiring," Drake continued. "I'm proud of him. He works really hard. He's just an incredible person, [and] become a really close friend to me."
