Drake To Build Recording Studio For Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion High School

(AllHipHop News) Young Money recording artist Drake is giving back to a local Philadelphia high school by promising to build a brand new recording studio for students aspiring to becoming performers. The “Started From The Bottom” rapper surprised kids at Strawberry Mansion High School with the announcement during a taping of an ABC News special.

“In the next few months I’m building a recording studio inside your school,” Drake told the students. “This about you. This about your principal. This about your future. I love you. I care about you. I want to see you succeed.”

Strawberry Mansion was featured on a World News with Diane Sawyer special report in May. The “Hidden America” segment covered the school’s principal Linda Cliatt-Wayman, faculty, and students in a what was dubbed “one of the most dangerous high schools in America.” Sawyer returned to SMHS to do an update on the school’s progress and brought Drake along to speak with the students.

Meek Mill Artist Lil Snupe Battles DeSean Jackson Artist Retro for $10k (Video) **HHS1987.com EXCLUSIVE**

After T.I.'s private listening party at Sigma Sounds (located in Philadelphia, Pa) there was a rap battle. The battle was between Meek Mill's Dream Chasers artist Lil Snupe (from Louisiana) against Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson's Jaccpot artist Retro (from West Philly). Meek Mill and DeSean put up $10,000 each on their artist. While T.I., Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, Trae Tha Truth and T.I.'s cousin Rashad (who the movie ATL is based on). Everyone agreed to 5 rounds of rapping for the two artists. At the end, when all of the judges expressed why they chose Lil Snupe (Dream Chasers) the winner, DeSean Jackson left the room. Meek Mill Makes Court Appearance

Philadelphia-born rapper Meek Mill had to appear in court today (July 31st) as part of a routine hearing to deal with previous felony charges. The rapper, born Robert Williams, attended a status hearing for previous charges, for which he has served an eleven month prison sentence. The conviction stems from gun and drug charges from 2008. Mill was previously paroled to house arrest but it has now been completed. Attorney Lou Savino told Fox 29 that the appearance was a routine hearing as a part of his probation. Additionally, Mill was warned by the judge not to mention the D.A. handling his case in any of his lyrics. The rhymer had previously done so on his track, "The Ride."
