Rick Ross Addresses Colorado Tragedy

Rapper Rick Ross, like many other Americans, was deeply affected by the tragic shooting spree that took place at a premiere showing of The Dark Knight Rises at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. Speaking with 106 KMEL about the alleged killer, James Holmes, Ross offered sympathy for the victims and shared his anger at Holmes' behavior in court.
“You know, first and foremost, I send my condolences out to the family members of the victims. It’s just so senseless,” he said. “You think you’re in the movie, and as I watched him sitting in the courtroom, now he dizzy. Now he dazed. With all the pictures of him and everything that was leading up to the event, he’s smiling and this and that. Now you dazed. Don’t be dazed now. We need you to be focused when this comes down on you, because that was senseless. It’s unfortunate. Don’t be blinkin’ and all that. It could be one of his approaches to his defense, like he ain’t know what was going on. But that ain’t gon’ help you on this one.”

Rick Ross On MMG

Rapper Rick Ross cleared the air about Pill, Def Jam and Maybach Music Group in a recent radio interview with Funkmaster Flex. The Miami rap star made sure to explain exactly what happened with Atlanta star Pill and how he and Def Jam came to an understanding.
"When I did my label deal over at Warner, Meek Mill and Wale was who I was bringing to the table," he explained. "When I sat down to do my deal, they had Pill as an artist already there. They just thought he may have needed a little work or whatever and we could've got that in with the team. So, we worked out a one year situation."
"I'm not even sure if it's still going to come out through Warner," he said of Pill's album. "I'm not really sure what final decision they made with him but the year ran its course with MMG."
"Me and Def Jam [are] one hundred...Over the last year, I quadrupled my net worth," he shared, before adding that he thought they needed to take another look at his deal. Apparently, it all worked out in the end.
"It's all love," he added. "We made history together but at the same time, respect the momentum. Respect what we're doing and we're going to keep getting this paper."

Common has been hard at work on his upcoming Warner Bros debut album entitled The Dreamer, The Believer. The project is due November 22nd and features production work by Common's longtime collaborator No ID. The rapper shared that he feels the record will provide some positivity for hip hop fans.
"It's going to be positive hip-hop. Hip-hop that can really generate good spirit, the spirit of the music and just good energy," he said. "I'm excited about the album. I feel blessed that I got to work with No I.D. I'm enthused to do hip-hop, which is something that I have to do when I feel it."
"It's the spirit and energy of hip-hop that made you just enjoy it and love the music and not feel like, 'Man, is this gonna sell?' or 'I sold this many.' It's stuff that made you feel something, it's stuff that you can use that inspired your life. I think about hip-hop like Brand Nubian and KRS-One and N.W.A. and Rakim, that stuff inspired my life. Those things really shaped who I am."

Pill is Ready MMG

Pill Is Ready
Maybach Music signee Pill is ready for his close-up. The rapper told XXL magazine in a recent interview that he believes he's bringing something that hip hop is lacking: realness. Of course, every new rapper that gets signed claims he's the 'realest' thing in the game, but Pill insists that somehow--he's different.
"I bring a reality. I bring that reality back. I paint pictures out of the hood," Pill says. "My music is complimenting their style. I like to document all the shit I've been through and I don't think anybody can do that better than me. Ain't no raw MC in the game that's rawer than me. I documented my shit. Whatever I rapped about I showed it to you. When you've got that much credibility, there ain't anyone else with that much credibility."
"When you've got somebody that raw and that intelligent that can touch on all angles and come from every side with it and be able to clarify it and also be able to give you stories, whatever angle it may be, it's a true testimony," the rapper continued. "If I'm on a track with Ross or whoever it may be I can switch to any subject. It's always going to be clarity with me. I think I bring more versatility than any other artist in the game."
