Kareem "Biggs" Burke Former Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Headed To Jail

Kareem "Biggs" Burke, former friend of hip hop superstar/mogul Jay-Z and co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, was sentenced yesterday (June 4th) to five years in prison for conspiracy to distribute over 100 kilos of marijuana. The former music executive was caught in "Operation Green Venom," a federal drug sting.

According to reports, more than 50 people were arrested in the bust.

Alongside Jay and Damon Dash, Burke co-founded Roc-A-Fella in the mid-90s. The label met with success until the trio split in 2004. Upon sentencing, Burke told Manhattan Federal Court Judge Loretta Swain that she would never see him in court again.

"Nothing personal, but I'm going to keep you to that promise," Swain said.

Beyonce's "The Chain Remains"

Beyonce decided to get a little sexy on Tumblr. The superstar created her Tumblr a few months ago and began showcasing some personal photos of her and her hubby, rapper Jay-Z, from vacations and gatherings and just hanging around the house. She decided to get a little PG-13 in her latest pic, though.

Bey posted an image of her topless (from a 'stategic' angle, of course), and it looks like she's wearing nothing but Jay's old Roc-A-Fella chain.

Jay famously rapped that he's "Got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain," several years ago.

He's a lucky man. And that's a lucky chain.

Jay-Z & Kanye Settle Lawsuit

Jay-Z and Kanye West have settled with Syl Johnson, who was suing the rappers for using an unauthorized sample of his song "Different Strokes." The song was included on a bonus track featured on the duo's top-selling 2011 album Watch the Throne.

Johnson is no stranger to lawsuits; having already sued Jefferson Airplane, Cypress Hill and Michael Jackson for copyright infringement.

Pete Rock, who produced theWatch the Throne track, said that sample was added after he was done with his work on the song.

G.O.O.D. Music Cyhi The Prynce is trying to beat back a small firestorm that's brewing after he made comments that many perceived to be a diss aimed at YMCMB and Lil Wayne and Birdman. The rapper tweeted last week that "YMCMB is mid and Rocafella/GoodMusic is kush you sell more pounds of mid but which one would you rather smoke."

But now, Cyhi is saying that he wasn't trying to tear down Birdman's label.

"Wow I didn't know that tweet went that far... I didn't realize I was that popular," Cyhi tweeted. "Y'all do know it's more richer hustlers selling mid than kush so I wasn't trying to diss nobody"

Teairra Mari On Label Struggles:

Teairra Mari has had a bumpy recording career. Her early days as a burgeoning R&B star on Roc-A-Fella Records didn't yield much and she was unceremoniously dropped from the label. But Mari says that the experienced taught her resiliency at a young age and now she understands what it takes to be successful in a cutthroat business.

But she held nothing back when discussing what's hardest about being an artist.

I would say the bullsh*t you have to deal with. The politics, what you have to go through because talent is only a small part of it," she said. "Having talent doesn’t solidify that you’ll be successful in this business. I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus but like with Warner Bros, they hyped me up to sign and then not getting it. To me that’s BS. Why even sign me if you don’t believe in it? They just didn’t get me. And that’s fine. I don’t hold any bad blood with any of those people."

Kanye West's Fashion Rant, But Has A Point.

Kanye West had another 'Kanye Moment' at Paris Fashion Week. The rapper apparently took exception with critics who claim his women's wear line is simply a vanity project and lashed out--reminding everyone that he takes his work very seriously.

“I’m feeling good.[...]Thank you for anybody that didn’t believe, because they motivated us to break our boundaries," he said in an interview. "We don’t know what the reviews will be, we don’t know what they will say, but I got a chance to go to Italy and feel those fabrics. I begged Louis Vuitton to let me do more shoes after my shoes sold out in two weeks, and they did not. I begged Nike, I begged this company to let me do it. And I took out motherf—ing loans to get the best models, to get the best designers, to get the best venue. I gave you everything that I had."

“This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow," he continued. "This is not some celebrity sh*t. I don’t f*ck with celebrities. I f*ck with the creatives in this room, the amazing people who spend every day of their life trying to make the world a more beautiful place."

“The amount of people that tried to get me a celebrity f*cking deal," he continued. "They said, ‘You need to do boot-cut jeans, or you won’t sell.’ Shut the f*ck up ! Dame Dash Still Misses Aaliyah

Dame Dash shared his memories of his late girlfriend Aaliyah in a recent interview. On the 10th anniversary of the superstar's death, Dame reflected on their love and life together. The former Roc-A-Fella Records mogul still misses her and the bond that the two had.

"The energy we created together for people to observe was kind of crazy. We'd be in a room full of people talking to each other and it felt like everyone was listening but it would be just us," Dame explained in an interview. "It would be like we were the only ones in the room. It was like something was going down in history every time I was with her. Every time I was around her I felt it was the place to be."

" Our time together meant so much that when we got more time, we felt like that [engagement] would be next," he shared. "She was one of the best people I ever met. Even with the pain I felt, I would do it all over again."

Amil Misses Jay-Z?

Amil--remember her?--still hasn't gotten over the fact that she blew her chance at a hip hop career way back in the late 90s. The former Roc-A-Fella artist was groomed to be the First Lady of the Roc, but her only album, A.M.I.L. (All Money Is Legal) flopped, and Jay-Z reportedly dropped her from the label due to her poor work ethic and--alleged--weight gain.

But Amil still has love for Jay--even though he's been a little too busy to return her calls lately.

"I haven't spoken to Jay in years but I really wish I could talk to him because that would just really bring closure to me. But he knows I love him," she says. "People think there was bad blood between us, but there never was any bad blood. Things happen and I wasn't ready for where my career was going at that time. It was really overwhelming."
