Shaunie O’Neal’s ‘in-your-face’, ‘all the good men are taken’, ‘my baby daddy cheated on me’ show "Basketball Wives" seems to be the launching pad for many would-be and wannabe baby mama’s looking to back-door their way into superstardom on the backs of the hard work of their former boyfriends. Just like Royce Reed's current court situation, courtesy of baby daddy Dwight Howard, Allison Mathis, Miami Heat star Chris Bosh’s former girlfriend and baby mama, will also get her day in court.
After learning of Mathis’ recent attempts to be on Season 3 of “Basketball Wives”, Bosh and his lawyers filed a lawsuit against Allison to prevent her from appearing in the upcoming season. The lawsuit, filed Monday in a Los Angeles federal court, says that Bosh is suing Allison for being on the show because it ‘intrudes’ on his private life. He also claims that Allison and Shed Media are trying to, “unjustly enrich themselves by using Bosh’s name,” and he’s seeking damages and an injunction to block her and the company from trademark infringement.

This entire article is comedy and both sides share some of the blame. He has every right, not to mention legal grounds, to sue her. Like it or not, sports stars today are essentially a "brand" just like Nike or Prada. You couldn't capitalize off of those names without permission and she's not going to be able to capitalize of his name without his permission.
However, like I said, the blame here is twofold. I agree with the statements above that basketball player aren't athletes. They know exactly what they are doing when they decide to have sex with women. To be real, many of them know that but for being rich athletes most of these women wouldn't give them the time of day (Chris Bosh ain't the most handsome brutha in the world). So, the risk they take when they decide to sleep with them is beng brought to fruition in paternity cases and shows like Basketball Wives.
It really is a simple fix. Enjoy your time as a young star and don't be so quick to hop in the sack. When you do make that call, make sure the person you're hooking up with is someone that you could potentially see yourself with. One night stands go hand and hand with fame in this country. I also think there is a subtle difference between G.F. and wife in this situation. A former wife has a claim to an athlete's "brand" just as she has a claim to his other assets (barring a very well-drafted prenuptial agreement). In the case of a girlfriend, however, there are no rights. So, seems to me that "Basketball WIves" should be limited to just that, basketball WIVES...not girlfriends, baby mamas, and the like. Do that, and you're on safe ground legally and, IMO, morally.
