Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons’ UniRush is suing a company that he alleges has been using the “Rush Card” name to leverage search results. The company, AccountNow, has reportedly been taking advantage of the word "Rush" in searches and sending customers to its website.
Simmons' lawyers are worried that AccountNow is confusing potential consumers and damaging the RushCard brand's reputation.
AccountNow was issued a cease and desist notice in late 2011, but they have not heeded any legal warnings. UniRush is now suing for trademark infringement, unfair competition and seeks punitive damages.
