Though controversial to some, Young Money superstar has considerable appeal to the younger demographic. This has been the source of some discussion, and Minaj was asked to address her kiddie appeal in the current issue of Allure Magazine.

While initially known for sexually-charged material, Minaj has ramped up the more outlandish aspects of her persona over the past year. She says that has contributed to the shift in her audience.

"I think as far as the younger demo is concerned, I play dress-up. I also can put on a very cartoonish voice," she told Allure. "So sometimes children may not know what I’m saying, but they like the sound of it, and they think I sound like some weird character.”
