Kanye West Hit With Lawsuit

Hip hop star Kanye West is facing yet another lawsuit for an uncleared sample. Shortly after West and fellow star Jay-Z settled a previous sample-related lawsuit--this one filed by Syl Johnson--Kanye finds himself at the center of a suit filed by Bobby Poindexter of the Persuaders. Allhiphop reports that West is being sued for $500,000. Kanye is accused of wrongfully using the R&B group's "Trying Girls Out" for his "Freshman Adjustment 2" mixtape, which was released in 2006. The song in question was a cover of Jay-Z's "Girls, Girls, Girls" which had been previously cleared for sample use on Jay's 2001 albumThe Blueprint.
