Despite the White House defending its invitation to rapper Common to participate in a poetry event, the conservative right is still taking shots at Common and his 'violent' lyrics and supposed advocacy for cop killing. Sarah Palin continued to criticize Common during an appearance on Fox News' "On the Record."
"This rapper -- we thought that we were to be united under the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, in tamping down racism and inciting violence and cop killing, certainly, and killing a former president," Sarah Palin said. "All those things that this rapper has glorified and really is known for, it just certainly reflects a lack of judgment on the White House's part."
"I am obviously a proponent of free speech. I'm not anti-rap. In fact, like Bret Baier, I know the lyrics to 'Rapper's Delight,''' Palin said. "But I am saying just common decency in the White House -- wouldn't we like to see a reflection of all that is wonderful and great, a shining city on a hill that the White House is supposed to be, with events inside of that house that reflect the patriotism and the decency and the influence of America?"

This would make sense and be great if all was wonderful and great but its not definitely not inside the white house or around the world for that matter
i just think its crazy that she said Common was know for glorifying cop killing. I think that is the opposite of what he is known for, obviously she made no effort to listen to any of his music before opening her mouth
I'm pretty sure Common is known for rapping about love, family, and his city of Chicago...he just supports two people who were convicted of killing cops, but there is much evidence that points to a unfair judgement...i guess people aren't allowed to think what they want anymore.
She isn't into or understand any hip hop at all, if she was, she or the rest of those idiots wouldn't take the words out of context. But it does once again prove the actual power behind hip hop. Mention hip hop...we listen & take notice. Hip Hop is conscious and brings us together....KOOL KEN
