Timbaland Criticizes Drake/Aaliyah Rumor

Timbaland spoke candidly with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club about the alleged Aaliyah project that is reportedly set to be executive-produced by Drake. The superproducer said that he isn't a fan of the idea if it doesn't include him and Missy--who both actually collaborated with Aaliyah during her career.

"I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if he do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy," he said.

"I don't know what's going on," Timbo added. "The proper way to do that would be for me him and Missy to be all on the record."

No official statement has been issued regarding the supposed project, though it has been mentioned in Drake

Missy Battles Lamborghini Dealer

Rapper Missy Elliott is embroiled in a legal battle with Fox Valley Motor Cars. The star filed a lawsuit in Florida against the auto dealer, claiming that she entered in an agreement to buy a 2012 Matte White Lamborghini Aventador for $376,000. According to the lawsuit, made a down payment of $30,000 in cash and her 2005 Bentley.

However the dealership never shipped the Lambo, which Missy was supposed to receive by mid-year.

According to reports, Missy was told the terms of the deal had changed because the market value of the car had risen. Missy is suing for possession of her Lambo and additional damages resulting from the dealership's breach of contract.

Timbaland & Missy Perform In NYC

Timbaland and Missy Elliott reunited during a performance at the Highline Stages last night (April 5th.) The show was in celebration of launch of Hennessy's White Rabbit campaign. Erykah Badu also performed and introduced the duo's performance.

Timbaland performed "Promiscuous Girl" and "SexyBack," with Missy Elliott performing several new songs.

Timbaland kept performing after Missy left the stage, taking fans back through his extensive catalog. Badu finished the night off performing several of her most-beloved cuts, including "Love of My Life" and "On & On."

Reality star Yandy Smith shared her opinion on hip hop veterans Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes' careers. The two superstars, known for outside-the-box videos and musical ideas, seem to earn the "Love & Hip Hop" cast member's respect with their eclecticism.

Missy Elliott, in particular, won praises from Yandy.

"I think what's interesting about these artists and what makes them great is their ability to keep on reinventing themselves," Smith told SOHH. "Missy really hasn't been gone, she has manifested herself to Keyshia Cole, Jazmine Sullivan and Monica. All of those hit records that you hear, Missy has had a hand in them. She's been busy writing and producing and being very instrumental in a lot of the hits that we've heard throughout the past couple years."

Timbaland Confirms Missy Comeback

Timbaland confirmed that his longtime collaborator and multiplatinum-selling hip hop artist Missy Elliott is definitely planning a comeback. While both Tim and Missy have been relatively quiet as of late, Timbaland says that both of them will have albums releasing before year's end.

Timbaland hasn't released an album in three years and Missy hasn't released an album in seven. "Me and Missy are both coming with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June," Timbo told MTV News. "Right now, we're preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time. We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously."

J. Cole Already Recording 2nd Album

J. Cole may have only released his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story, but the North Carolina rapper is already hard at work on his follow-up project. Cole revealed in an interview with Rise N Grind that he’s already begun work on the project and that it will also include some songs that were left off of his debut.

“I don’t know how many, but I got songs that didn’t make the last album that are automatically going to make this one,” he said, revealing the release date. “June. End of June, maybe June.”

He also confirms that the next single off of his current album will be “Nobody’s Perfect” featuring Missy Elliott.

Nicki Minaj Storms the Charts

Nicki Minaj's hit single "Super Bass," has moved into the number three spot on Billboard magazine’s “Hot 100” singles chart, and now threatens to break a nine-year old record held by Missy Elliott's "Work It." The song was the last time a female rapper had a single peak so high on the charts.

The song continues Minaj's commercial success. In 2010, she became the first female rapper to have seven songs on the Billboard Top 200 Singles chart. She was also the first female Rap artist with an album in the top 10 for 14 consecutive weeks.

“Nicki isn't like any other female rapper,” says Ronald “Slim” Williams, co-founder of Cash Money Records. “We knew she had the goods when Lil Wayne signed her. She's not a female rapper—she's a pop star who happens to rap.”
