Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne Win Billboard Awards

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards were held last night (May 20th) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There weren't a whole lot of surprises in what turned out to be an entertaining but fairly stale show. Chris Brown took home the award for Top R&B Artist, with LMFAO landing Top Duo/Group and Hot 100 song awards.
Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa both took home awards at the big show, as well.
The late Whitney Houston was honored with a tribute by John Legend and Jordin Sparks, with Alicia Keys joining the legendary Stevie Wonder onstage when he was celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Justin Bieber was named "Top Social Artist."

50 Cent Explains Weezy/Floyd Connection

Boxing fans have grown accustomed to rapper 50 Cent hanging out with champ Floyd Mayweather in the ring, but during Mayweather's last fight, pop star Justin Bieber and rapper Lil Wayne were also in the ring. Weezy's presence raised some eyebrows considering his history of rivalry with 50, but 50 Cent explained why both stars being alongside he and Floyd makes sense.
"Floyd has a huge passion for music that people don't know about," 50 explained. "It's a big part of what makes him comfortable and takes his mind off of how hard he has to work to stay being the #1 fighter in the world. With Wayne's music momentum, he's a part of that; he's been a part of the playlist, so it's cool."
"The pictures, when I'm not paying attention, they take some really weird facial expressions of me," he said of his appearing angry in the pics with Floyd and Weezy. "I'm like, 'What the f--- was I thinking at that point?' It's nothing there to make me feel uncomfortable."

Justin Bieber Jokes About Kanye/Kim

Justin Bieber is tired of Kanye West picking up hot girls. At least, that's what the teen pop star told MTV when the subject of Kim Kardashian was brought up. The Beebs famously quipped a while back that he had a thing for the sexy reality TV star, and now that she and his buddy Yeezy have linked up, Justin is a little salty.
Bieber cracked that Kanye was "just taking my women."
And Kimmy coulda been a little kinder, too.
"She didn't even call me! It was crazy," Bieber joked to Sway Calloway.

Justin Bieber Praises Lil Wayne's Skating

Justin Bieber talked about his friend Lil Wayne and their bond as skateboard fanatics. Bieber says that Wayne has called him in the wee hours of the morning to go skateboarding and praises the rapper's devotion to skater culture.
"He just hit me [up] the other night," Bieber said. "I was going to go to his video shoot he had. He was skating here [in Los Angeles]. I was gonna go skate with him, but it was like 4:30 in morning [when] he called me. So it was really too late for that. He's into skating, like that's his life." When asked to rate his own skills versus Weezy's, Bieber explained that it's more complex than that. "I mean, it's different," he said. "I like more street stuff. He does a lot of vert stuff. Vert is like ramps and street is like rails and kick flips. [They're] different in their own right.

Justin Bieber Vs. A Beaver?

Pop sensation Justin Bieber is reportedly not to happy about a new mobile app that mocks his image and steers a little too close to his famous name. A company called RC3 has launched the app, dubbed Joustin' Beaver. It's a cartoon game with a beaver--that looks a lot like Justin--has to be defended from photographers.
Bieber reportedly got miffed at the app, and his lawyers have entered a cease and desist letter to RC3. They want the app off of iTunes.
But the company says the cartoon is protecting by the First Amendment, as it is a parody of a public figure.

Lil Wayne Teams With Justin Bieber In The Studio WIth Timbaland

Superstars Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber have finally collaborated on a track. Despite having previously voiced reservations about teaming with the teen phenom, Wayne hung out with his friend and the two did some work in the studio.
Wayne had said in the past that he didn't want to possibly sabotage Bieber's success or tarnish his squeaky-clean image. But it seems that the two have found a way to make a collaboration happen.
"Good time in the studio last night. back at it tonight. oh yeah...and big bro came thru...," Bieber tweeted. "and when i say big bro i mean @LilTunechi. #BELIEVE IT #family."
And a certain hitmaking superproducer was also alongside the duo in the studio.

Justin Bieber's 'Street' Side

Superproducer Shondrae "Mr. Bangladesh" Crawford shared some insight regarding pop sensation Justin Bieber. "The Beebz" is a lot more than the general public thinks, according to Mr. Bangladesh. There are those who scoff at Bieber's forays into hip hop, but the producer says the kid has more in common with today's rappers than one might think.
"Yeah he's just a cool kid, influenced by the hip-hop community," says Bangladesh. "(He) wants to be in the clubs, wants to be relevant everywhere. Just wants to be like standing next to Wayne in the club type. He want an 808. He wants to sing and he wants a big booty girl. But he's a cool little dude, he's talkative, down to earth, but he really knows dope beats though. When I'm playing, I know my selection of music that I'm playing. I know what's on this level and that level and Justin picked some good beats. So he got an ear for what he wants to do."

Peter Rosenberg On Justin Beiber:

Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg explained his decision to have pop star Justin Bieber come to the studio and kick a freestyle over the instrumental to Gang Starr's classic single "Dwyck." The radio host says that the Beebs rhyming over a track like that could expose millions of people to hip hop that they've never heard.
"It'll probably be heard by millions of people. And it's labeled online--I intentionally labelled it 'Dwyck'," Rosenberg said, referring to the freestyle. "I wanted it to be out there and people to go, 'What's Dwyck?' To me, amidst all the people that would be like, 'Why'd you do that?' Ultimately, that's a really dope thing to do. I think that's a win for hip-hop. Justin Bieber is not gonna be the problem with hip-hop. Justin Bieber rhyming on a real hip-hop beat only exposes people to real hip-hop. That's just a good thing. Even if 1% of his fans look it up. Why not? I haven't talked to Premo yet, but I think Premo will think it's cool. I think everyone will think it's cool."

Nicki Minaj Wins Big At AMAs

The 2011 American Music Awards had a lot of glitz and glamour, but very little of the cache that the show once claimed in its heyday. Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez were the big winners at the show, which featured a somewhat surprising number of no-shows this year.
Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull performed their club hit "On the Floor" and Lopez also performed with will.i.am on his new track "THE (The Hardest Ever.)" Nicki beat out Kanye West & Jay-Z to take home 'Best Hip Hop Album' for her 2010 debut Pink Friday. The Young Money diva also won 'Best Hip Hop Artist' gave one of the show's earliest performances, taking the stage alongside David Guetta to perform "Super Bass" and "Turn Me On."
Chris Brown, who was introduced by 50 Cent, also gave a high-tech performance of his hits "All Back” and “Say It With Me." Pop superstar Justin Bieber gave a somewhat-awkward Christmas-themed performance.
Jay-Z and Kanye were not in attendance, nor was Rihanna; as these artists were all on tours. Beyonce also did not attend. Both Rihanna and Beyonce won awards, however: Rihanna took home Favorite Soul/R&B Album for Loud and BeyoncĂ© won Favorite Soul/R&B Female artist.
Sean Kingston also made an appearance--his first major appearance since recovering from a jet ski accident this summer.

DJ Premier On Justin Bieber

DJ Premier may have been accused of being hard on pop star Justin Bieber's hip hop skills during the BET Hip Hop Awards Cyphers, but Preemo says he's a fan of the young star. It was rumored that Premier had kept the Beebs out of the Cypher because Justin wasn't writing his own rhymes.
But the producer says he'd love to collaborate with the kid.
“I’d love to work with him, just as long as he writes it,” he said. “He’s gotta sit there in front of me and write it. I’d love to work with him and it would be dope.”

Ludacris Defends Justin Bieber

Rapper Ludacris is denying reports that he ghostwrote rhymes for Justin Bieber that the pop star wanted to use in a Cypher during the 2011 BET Awards. Luda says there's no truth to the story and that Bieber is no poser when it comes to loving hip hop.
He says he never was asked to write rhymes for the Beebs.
"My Lil homie @justinbieber loves hip hop & at no point was I supposed to write his cypher flow. #getyafactsright," he tweeted. DJ Premier also shared his side of the story. "Spoke 2 @Ludacris & he witnessed Justin Beiber write his rhymes & that he can flow...he said he wasn't s'posed to write 4 tha Cypher..," he tweeted. "Now as I said 2days ago, I can't ban nobody, I just stress my honest opinion on aLL my sh*t & the blog headings make it sound worse..."

DJ Premier Rejected Justin Bieber?

Apparently, pop star Justin Bieber wanted to take part in the BET Awards Cyphers this year. But the teenage sensation was shot down by producer DJ Premier, who hosted the Cyphers, which featured some of the most respected emcees in the game (and Chris Brown.)
'
According to Primo's blog, Beebs asked if he could take part but wanted Ludacris to write his rhymes.
Premier has no beef with Bieber, but was adamantly against ghostwriting in the Cypher. So he rejected Bieber's request. The Cyphers are meant to showcase each rapper's skills and having someone else write your rhymes goes against the spirit of the showcase.

"I don't even make grills anymore unless its for someone really special. and obviously, this is someone special. so I'm gonna swag it the f**k out!" wrote Baller.
The fittings were not permanent, so don't worry Bieber fanatics.

Justin Bieber Defends Kanye

Lil Wayne's Dancers Facing Assault Charges
Pop sensation Justin Bieber went to bat for his buddy Kanye West in a recent interview. Bieber says that Kanye's rep as a jerk is over-exaggerated and that the two of them were able to talk a lot when they worked together in the studio.
"I got to be in the studio with him and work with him and see how he works and talk to him--and talk to him as a friend, and not like someone [in] business," Bieber said. "He's not really an a**hole, like everyone makes him out to be. I mean, he can, he can do bad things, but he's really generally a good guy. He can make bad decisions, you know, as well as everyone can -- but generally I think he is a good guy."

Lil Wayne Brushes Off Justin Bieber

Lil Wayne Brushes Off Justin Bieber
Lil Wayne is a fan of pop sensation Justin Bieber, but he isn't planning on appearing on any of the Beeb's tracks any time soon. Weezy says Bieber constantly asks him to drop a guest verse, but Wayne says he doesn't want to screw up Bieber's formula for success.
"That's my little homie now," Wayne says of The Biebs. "He texts me every night asking me to do [his] d*mn song. That's my n*gga, but I can't do it. Like I said, I don't want to f*ck his sh*t up. But like I said, I want to work with Justin Timberlake. That boy got a voice; that boy can sing. He needs to come back right there on Tha Carter IV."

Tyler, The Creator On Justin Bieber

Tyler, The Creator On Justin Bieber:
Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator has spoken before about his encounters with pop sensation Justin Bieber. Tyler recently revealed that he and Bieber have hung out at awards shows together, but Tyler says he'd love to see the clean-cut star get a little edgier. And a little more delinquent.
"We [were] kicking it with him for like 10, 20 minutes. He's a chill dude. First thing he was like, 'Oh, I just finished talking about your video, that sh-- was crazy," Tyler said. "He just started asking me questions about my sh--, and it was kind of weird because I was going to ask him sh--. But he was intrigued enough [about] what we had going on...I want to take him egging cars and f---ing sh-- up and paintball and just go skate and go do fun sh-- that I feel like he hasn't been able to do."
