Jay-Z Performing Two More Barclays Shows

Jay-Z will be performing two additional shows at Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center. The rapper was already slated perform to kick off the big September 29th opening for the luxurious complex, and today (July 9th) it was announced that more shows will take place on September 29th and 30th.
“Jay-Z is Brooklyn and is the definitive artist to open Barclays Center,” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. “We are thrilled that such an iconic world-class entertainer, not to mention a Brooklynite, will take the borough’s biggest stage on three consecutive nights for what will surely be a historic experience for all fans.”
Jay-Z is also a minority investor of the Brooklyn Nets and will serve as Director of the Brooklyn Arena Firm.

Jay-Z Named Arena Director

Jay-Z has been named the arena director for the Brooklyn Nets' Barclay Arena. The hip hop mogul's new title was published in papers that were filed by the arena's developer, Forest City Ratner Cos. as part of the company's bid to secure a liquor license for the facility.
Jay has been particularly hands-on in his contributions to the team since its relocation to Brooklyn. The minority owner has helped design the new logo, he gave input on the 11 luxury suites. Jay helped determine what champagne would be used in the $550,000 suites and even determined what cutlery would be used.
Forest City CEO Bruce Ratner, David Berliner, Mary Anne Gilmartin, Christophe Charlier, Irina Pavlova and David Carlock will also serve as directors of the operations of the facility.

Jay-Z Explains Brooklyn Nets Logo

Hip hop mogul and Brooklyn Nets minority owner Jay-Z revealed the logo to the NBA franchise earlier this year. While the stark, black-and-white color scheme and unique design drew mixed reviews, Jay recently explained what inspired the team's new look.
The Nets wanted something that was evocative of old subway signs.
"It was really a take off the old subway signs," Jay revealed. "If you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white."
"I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever," he added.

Jay-Z's Brooklyn Nets Logo Debuts

The new Brooklyn Nets' logo has been revealed. The NBA franchise, which is partly owned by hip hop mogul Jay-Z, will be moving from New Jersey. Beginning next season, the team will begin play at the state-of-the-art Barclay Center and the new logo is part of the team's reinvention.
Jay-Z reportedly designed the logo himself.
"Today, we launch the next chapter. Boy, this feels good. We've been waiting seven years to get to this point," said CEO of Nets Basketball Brett Yormark.
The new merchandise has already gone on sale.
