Eve Admits She Loved Stevie J

Eve, like many others, have witnessed self-styled ladies' man Stevie J and his womanizing ways on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" this season. Unlike most people, however, the veteran hip hop star has experienced the man's foolishness firsthand. E-V-E admitted in a recent interview that she and Stevie had strong feelings for each other at one point, but she's in a completely different place now.
"Yes, Stevie J was my first love," she told a group of young fans during an "Intimate Hour" interview. "You know what…that was a learning experience. You meet people all the time. We just happen to fall in love. Umm, but thankfully I knew better, I know better, I am happily in love now. And the girl now (referring to herself) he couldn’t even see this. I would be like, “I’m sorry, we don’t speak the same language!” But you know, it is what it is….that’s life. Sometimes you meet people who aren’t great for you but thankfully I am in a different place."
"When I was younger I didn’t question things but now I am annoying!" she continued. "Like if something doesn’t feel right speak up! If you feel like you are being lied to speak up! If you feel like Sexually he is trying to push you to fast speak up. And let me tell you something. Anybody that knows your worth it will stick around. They might not talk to you about it, they may talk to you about it but if they argue with you or if they call you a name or if they roll out they are not meant to be in your life anyways."

Eve Returns To Philly

Rapper Eve performed at Kung Fu Necktie as part of the Reebok Classics concert series. The Philadelphia native took the time to enjoy her hometown, visiting her old high school before performing for a sold-out crowd.
“The Philadelphia music scene was always a part of my life, I guess from the time that I was 11 or 12," Eve said of her early years. "Maybe even younger than that is when I started doing talent shows and things like that."
“Martin Luther King High [School], you know I had fun, but I think more than anything musically, that’s where I kinda honed a lot my cypher skills,” said Eve. “Like every lunch time there was a cypher, every lunch time, and I stayed at other people’s lunch times so I could battle them. So if it did anything for me, I think it was good for my music. That’s I think when the city started to notice me, the blonde girl that rapped – that was my name.”

Eve Scolds Nicki & Iggy Azalea?

Eve has taken the high road in the highly-publicized feuds between some of her fellow female rappers, but now the respected femcee is giving her honest opinion about some of the younger generation picking up the microphone. In a recent interview with Women of Hip Hop, the Philly rhymer talked about numerous women in rap--but had some particularly eye-catching comments about superstar Nicki Minaj and newcomer Iggy Azalea.
"It's not about publicity. It's about wanting that respect," Eve said in an interview. "I think maybe that's where Kim is coming from, like, you're doing your thing right now and no one can take that away from you, Nicki--we all see it--but at the end of the day, if it wasn't for Kim, she wouldn't be here and that sh*t is real."
Later in the interview, E-V-E shared her opinion on Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks. She likes latter more than the former.
"I like Azealia Banks. I think her style is dope. If you listen to her lyrics, she knows how to wordplay and I think that's cute," she said, before adding, "I'm not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can't really f*ck with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can't believe it."

Eve Prepping New Single

Veteran female rapper Eve has announced that she is prepping a new single for release by the end of the month. The Philly native told TheWomenOfHipHop that she has plans to release it online prior to release an 'official' radio single later.
"I'm gonna throw out a...single at the end of this month," said Eve. "Before the official single, before the radio single. And I'm probably gonna throw out a couple...before the radio single."
"I think my whole goal for this record, because it's been so long, I wanted to make sure that my core audience didn't feel like Eve just completely forgot about them, and went over to another side," she added.
"Musically, I definitely...I haven't changed, but I've grown," explained Eve. "I've definitely grown. I feel like people will...recognize the stuff they loved [from] me before - all the Ruff Ryders, the hard lyrics. And that's my core, that's where I come from, so I wanted to make sure I didn't [forget about] that. But then, I wanted to make sure I did tracks that show my ear, because I have been traveling for so long. Musically, I love a lot of different kinds of music."

Eve STILL Promising Album?

Eve must've learned a thing or two about album delays while working with Dr. Dre at Aftermath. The Philly-born femcee is still assuring fans that her album is 'coming' at some point in the near future. When asked about the project during a recent trip to Australia, Eve gave a teeny update on the album's status.
She says its coming in 2012. For sure.
“I been saying my album was coming and it was, but I left Interscope and now, I’m on EMI so the album is definitely coming at the top of the year," Eve says. "It’s called Lip Lock, it’ll be out at the top of the year in March. I don’t have a date yet.”

Eve Speaks On Women In Hip Hop

Eve Speaks On Women In Hip Hop
Ever so often, Eve pops up to remind everyone that she's still breathing. The Philly-born femcee spoke recently about the lack of female emcees in hip hop and who some of her favorite current artists right now. Still no word on if/when she will return to recording.
"People ask me [about females in rap] all the time. It’s weird. I don’t know where all the females are," she says. "By the way, I meet females all the time that tell me, “Yeah, I’m an MC,” and I’m always like, “Good luck, God bless. Make it happen. We need more females.”
"I still have people on my list who I’ve been wanting to work with forever like OutKast," she added. "Andre 3000, I think is amazing. Adele is amazing. Drake is dope, as far as hip-hop goes. So there’s a lot of different people, but nobody I’m loving at the top of my list right now, though."

Eve On Her Love Life

Eve On Her Love Life:
Eve recently revealed in an interview that she is looking forward to settling down, but the Philadelphia-born rapper wouldn't put a timetable on exactly when she was thinking of jumping the broom. She has been linked to racer Maximillion Cooper, but she wouldn't confirm nor deny that that's who she's head-over-heels in love with these days.
"I want marriage, I want babies, soon, but later," Eve said in an interview. "I'm seeing someone at the moment. I'm not saying [who it is], but it's been a year. It's not a secret. He's not a music celebrity."

Eve Has Advice For Lil Kim

Eve Has Advice For Lil Kim
Rapper Eve has some advice for her fellow 90s rap veteran femcee Lil Kim. The Philly native thinks Kim should stop with the melodramatics and the childish feuding with Nicki Minaj and get back to making great music. To Eve, the entire situation paints Kim in a negative light.
"I need her to stop. If I was Kim's friend, I'd be like, yo. Because she's Kim, period," Eve said in an interview. "So she never has to feed. She shouldn't. It's bad. It's not a good look. If I was her friend, I'd tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you've ever done you. So that's it...I love it."
"You know, it's definitely a nice group of females that's out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop," she continued. "Nicki definitely is holding the flag down, and a lot of people be wanting me to hate just because that's how girls supposed to do in hip-hop, but I'm loving everything she does. But we need more females, man. There's too much testosterone in the hip-hop game."

Jill Scott Re-Connects With Hip Hop
Soul singer Jill Scott has gotten back in touch with her hip hop roots on her highly-anticipated upcoming album. The Light of the Sun features a bevy of hip hop collaborators. Scott, a native of Philadelphia, has never downplayed her connections to hip hop, with the Roots and DJ Jazzy Jeff playing prominent roles on her classic debut Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1. But she has never had this many rappers on a project before.
Fellow Philly native Eve, hip hop legend Doug E. Fresh and Texas rapper Paul Wall all are among the guests on the album.
"I grew up on Eric B. and Rakim; I grew up on storytelling, on Big Daddy Kane, on flows, on KRS-One," Jill Scott told AllHipHop. "Giving some education and something to think about. You know, I went to what I love most about Hip-Hop and I will stay in that particular genre. And I used some incredibly, incredibly amazing musicians and we freestyle a lot."
