Kelly Rowland Had Skin Color Issues?
Kelly Rowland opened up about her issues with her darker complexion as a youngster. Rowland came to fame as a member of R&B group Destiny's Child when she was still a teen, and she says that she was still wrestling with her skin color issues as an adolescent.
“There’s so much peer pressure growing up, I had an identity crisis. I went to a predominantly white school and I was the only black girl," says Rowland. "I can remember thinking: ‘I don’t want to be as dark as I am – I want to be a little fairer.’ I didn’t want to be me."
She says that Tina Knowles, mother of her superstar DC bandmate Beyonce, helped give her confidence in herself.
"Tina sat me in front of the mirror and said: ‘Girl, look at how pretty you are,'" says Kelly. "She made me feel comfortable in my own skin."

Kelly Rowland Didn't Think She Was Pretty

Kelly Rowland recently opened up about her own self-esteem issues and how long it took for her to love herself. The former Destiny's Child singer has had a little plastic surgery in the past, and says that her beauty issues began in childhood.
"It took a long while for me to know that I’m beautiful," Kelly says. "I remember going through this phase when I was younger of wanting to pass by mirrors and not look at them. That was so ridiculous. I’ve learned now that beauty starts from within. If you don’t know your worth, if you don’t know your value, if you don’t know how fantabulous you are — it’s going to be hard for other people to see it. Being appreciative of self, is beauty to me."

Kelly Rowland Talks Dirty

Kelly Rowland opened up during an appearance on The Breakfast Club. The former Destiny's Child star touched on a number of topics, but one in particular caught everyone's attention. Ms. Rowland was asked about her dating preferences and whether or not white guys are more enthusiastic than black guys about performing a certain...'act.'
"You know what? To me, it just depends on the guy," Rowland replies. "If they like that. Of course, it’s better to find a guy that you can motivate to like that. I like me a nice swag of a black guy, I can’t even lie. To me, black guys and Arabic guys their swag is almost the same."
Kelly was also asked if she recommended dating a white guy. Yes, you can. I mean, it’s completely up to you," she said. "I like a black guy just as much as I love a white guy."
