Q-Tip Calls Out Paltrow Defenders

Gwyneth Paltrow created a small firestorm by tweeting "N***as In Paris, for real," during Jay-Z and Kanye West's show in Frence. As everyone chimes with an opinion, rapper/producer Q-Tip gave a thoughtful rebuttal to anyone who felt the need to defend the Oscar-winning actresses poor word choice.
"Listen rush simmons, toure, and all Black folk who are sympathist to this gwen paltrow n***a thing," Tip tweeted. "She may not have meant harm, sure it was in the heat of the moment but that fact that she showed not 1 IOTA of apologetic tone...given the historical weight of that word is not responsible on G paltrow's part."
"As powerful as hip hop is it DOESN'T erase the years of damage that not only that word has done but circumstances that usually surround it," he continued. "Sure there is empathy for the Black American struggle from all races but the empathy should be extended to the great pain we as blacks have experienced for generations. For the pain that we still deal with in our communities daily"
"Paltrow shouldve offered a 'If I offended anyone I'm truly sorry' as a person who loves black people and understands there's a scope of black folk that exist beyond the ones she partied with in Paris who are still dealing w/the complexities of their circumstances. Black folks that don't know about giving a white person a 'pass.' Rush? Toure?"

Russell Simmons Defends Kimora

A day after defending Gwyneth Paltrow from the angry Twitter horde, hip hop mogul Russell Simmons is now stepping up for his ex-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons. There have been rumors that Kimora and her husband, actor Djimon Hounsou, are on the rocks. Russ says there's no truth to it.
He posted a 'list' pointing out how and why the couple is doing fine:
1. Kimora and Djimon are fine.

2. Kimora and Djimon are both doing extremely well in their respective endeavors and businesses and don't need to fight over or waste energy on money issues.

3. I damn sure don't pay nor have I ever paid alimony (Kimora does just fine). In no way do I support their lifestyle, so please don't say they are fighting over MY money.

4. Yes she's selling a house, but she hasn't lived in it for several years since she built the house they currently reside in.

5. As for friction between us? There is none. I feel like I'm part of their family. Djimon and Kenzo are like my blood and Kimora is my best friend. We are partners in various businesses and in the really important business of raising our beautiful children.

The-Dream Defends Gwyneth

Gwyneth Paltrow found herself in the middle of controversy after tweeting "N***as In Paris, for real" during Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Watch the Throne" performance in France this week. While she later tweeted that she was only referencing the song title, superproducer The-Dream--who was also at the show, came to the Oscar-winner's defense.
"FYI, sorry for the confusion," The-Dream tweeted. "I typed 'N----- in Paris for real' from Gwen's phone, my bad."
"Please excuse it! We were lit," he added.
Can you say 'damage control?'

Gwyneth Paltrow's N-Bomb

Gwyneth Paltrow slide down hip hop's slipperiest of slopes when she tweeted the N-word while watching Jay-Z and Kanye West perform on their "Watch the Throne" tour in Paris. The Oscar-winning actress referenced the duo's smash single "N*ggas In Paris," but some fans didn't appreciate her use of the term.
"N*ggas in Paris for real @mrteriusnash," Paltrow tweeted.
Of course, many of her Twitter followers took exception to her word choice. "Hold up," she responded. "It's the title of the song!"
Paltrow didn't acknowledge the backlash any further.

Gwyneth Paltrow Dishes On Beyonce

Gwyneth Paltrow shared her admiration for BFF Beyonce in a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar. The superstar actress reiterated statements she made last year regarding her friend's otherworldly performance talents and also discussed her life in the U.K. and how Bey seems to have less scrutiny there than in America.
"Beyonce is the most talented human being on the planet," Gwyneth says. "She has so much mastery over what she does. It’s not even confidence – it’s on a whole other level. It’s mind-blowing. I watched her (perform) a lot to see how she did it, and I was like ‘Sh*t! I can’t do that!'"
"In England, people are cool. They’re really laid back and calm," she shared. "Beyonce did the school run with me once, and everyone was fine. They also have really good anti-paparazzi rules. If you’re driving in a car and they make you feel freaked out, that’s against the law. They can’t put you in a magazine unless they pixelate the kids’ faces. I miss America, but I love living in the UK."
She also touched on her high-profile marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. "I have little kids in school," she says. "I want to maintain my marriage and my family, so I have to be here when he comes home."

Michelle Williams Gushes Over Blue Ivy

Since Beyonce's had her daughter, all of her associates have chimed in about the super-baby; from her longtime BFF Kelly Rowland to her sister Solange to Gwyneth Paltrow. But no one heard much from the third member of Destiny's Child.
Michelle Williams finally gave her two cents briefly at a major event this week.
“She is absolutely gorgeous. We were all in love,” Williams, 31, told USA Today at Saturday’s BET Honors in Washington, D.C.
Quotes from Kelly Rowland popped up immediately after Blue Ivy Carter was born. It seems like the world forgot to even acknowledge Williams was a close friend of Beyonce's, too. SMH.

Kelly Rowland Loves Lil Wayne

Kelly Rowland Loves Lil Wayne
Singer Kelly Rowland is the latest celeb to sing the praises of rap star Lil Wayne. Following kudos from Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow, Ms. Kelly is also a huge fan of the Cash Money/Young Money superstar.
"He's just an artist that loves music," said Rowland. "You can tell that just by how genius he is on his records. When I loved this record ["Motivation"], I was hoping he would love the record. And you can tell that it vibed with him or it connected with him in some sort of way for him to do what he did on this record because when I got it back -- I literally was at a loss for words."

OK -- 'Yo, here's a little something about a 'uh' like me, never should have been let out the penitentiary/Ice Cube, I like to say that I'm a crazy motherf*cker from around the way/Since I was a youth, I smoked weed out/Now I'm the motherf*cker that you read about.' Jay-Z Praises His Women
Jay-Z was recently interviewed by his longtime friend, actress Gwyneth Paltrow. In a convo for the GOOP Newsletter, Gwyneth told Hov he was the coolest man on earth and asked "how the f" he got that way. Jay explained exactly what makes him seem that way.
"I'm around great women, starting with my mom," Jay said. "Women keep men cool. The hotter the chick the cooler the guy--that sounds like a really bad rap line!"

Gwyneth Paltrow Talks Postpartum Depression “I Felt Like A Zombie”

This real people. Can you handle the LIFe?
Gwyneth Paltrow had a blissful time during daughter Apple’s first few months of life in summer 2004. Two years later, when son Moses was born, things couldn’t have been more different. The actress found herself living a nightmare.
“I felt like a zombie. I couldn’t access my heart. I couldn’t access my emotions. I couldn’t connect,” Paltrow, now 38, says in the February issue of Good Housekeeping.
“It was terrible, it was the exact opposite of what had happened when Apple was born. With her, I was on cloud nine. I couldn’t believe it wasn’t the same. I just thought it meant I was a terrible mother and a terrible person.”
It was Paltrow’s husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who first thought she might be suffering from postpartum depression.
“About four months into it, Chris came to me and said, ‘Something’s wrong. Something’s wrong,’ ” Paltrow recalls. “I kept saying, ‘No, no, I’m fine.’ But Chris identified it, and that sort of burst the bubble.”
Paltrow says the hardest part was acknowledging the problem. “I thought postpartum depression meant you were sobbing every single day and incapable of looking after a child,” she explains. “But there are different shades of it and depths of it, which is why I think it’s so important for women to talk about it. It was a trying time. I felt like a failure.”
With those dark days long behind her, Paltrow has rebooted her film career – and begun a musical one – with her role in Country Strong. Her husband, supportive as ever, helped her learn guitar for the part – which came as no surprise.
“I can depend on him,” Paltrow says. “He makes me laugh. He’s really appreciative of me. You know, he makes me feel special.”
Although sometimes, she has to push him a little to talk about his feelings. “I definitely have to coax things out of him when we talk. You know, he’s British, so it’s a different lexicon totally,” Paltrow says. “But you have to communicate. Otherwise there’s no relationship.”
