Rick Ross On MMG

Rapper Rick Ross cleared the air about Pill, Def Jam and Maybach Music Group in a recent radio interview with Funkmaster Flex. The Miami rap star made sure to explain exactly what happened with Atlanta star Pill and how he and Def Jam came to an understanding.
"When I did my label deal over at Warner, Meek Mill and Wale was who I was bringing to the table," he explained. "When I sat down to do my deal, they had Pill as an artist already there. They just thought he may have needed a little work or whatever and we could've got that in with the team. So, we worked out a one year situation."
"I'm not even sure if it's still going to come out through Warner," he said of Pill's album. "I'm not really sure what final decision they made with him but the year ran its course with MMG."
"Me and Def Jam [are] one hundred...Over the last year, I quadrupled my net worth," he shared, before adding that he thought they needed to take another look at his deal. Apparently, it all worked out in the end.
"It's all love," he added. "We made history together but at the same time, respect the momentum. Respect what we're doing and we're going to keep getting this paper."

Pill Discusses Exit From MMG

Pill recently discussed his high-publicized departure from Maybach Music Group and the difficulty he felt finding his niche within the camp. The Atlanta hip hop star says that he felt isolated within Rick Ross' crew and doesn't believe it was the best fit for both parties involved.
"Nah, he never tried to get me to do anything different. He believed in me, from what I felt and what was told to me," Pill said about Ross. "But it just never really materialized. Like he said in [his interview with MTV], it was a special stipulation to where I got to run with them 'cause I was already over at Warner. And I appreciate the love from Maybach [Music Group] and from Ross and everybody over there for giving me that opportunity because it got me in a different spot. It kinda saved me. It's just that it never really went further to where it was supposed to go. All of us [in MMG] was supposed to be at that forefront, but it was like these three guys and then Pill. It was like, "D*mn, so what's up with Pill? Why his sh*t ain't on this radio station? Why his sh*t ain't on MTV?" But everybody else's was. So it was almost like I was just that other guy."

Wale Says He Still Supports Pill

Maybach Music Group rapper Wale said in a recent interview with MTV that he's still friends with rapper Pill, despite the recent revelation that Pill was never signed to Maybach Music in what was a somewhat messy exchange between he and the label.
Pill appeared on MMG's compilation Self Made, Vol. 1, which led many to believe he was a part of the imprint. But things went awry and he is now unaffiliated. Wale says, however, that the two are still frineds despite whatever business difficulties occurred between Pill and MMG.
“Personal is personal, business is business. I’m friends with people that I’ve fired. I’ve been in the game long enough that you separate the two. So shout out to Pill, and what he’s doing,” said Wale. “We still supporting what he’s doing. It just didn’t work out on the business side. Everybody get chances though. Everybody gets second, third, fourth, fifth chances. I believe in Pill, and I’m sure Rozay believes in Pill so we wish him the best.”

Masspike Miles of MMG On Pill:

Masspike Miles of Maybach Music Group gave a decidedly cold response to recent claims by rapper Pill that he was never affiliated with Maybach Music Group. The rapper's response to an interview question only added more confusion to an already-odd story regarding Pill and his affiliation with Rick Ross' crew and imprint.
"When it comes to sh*t like that, I don't even comment on it," Masspike Miles told hip-hop personality Futuristic Blogger. "I'm gonna keep it funky. Like I said, it's about my loyalty, brotherhood and being positive. Any of that f*ck sh*t, I don't talk about it. If he blogging, more power to him, I wish him the best in the future. It's Maybach Music over here."

Pill's Lengthy Twitter Rant

Pill may be denying rumors that he was dropped from Maybach Music, but that didn't stop the rapper from posting an extensive rant on Twitter listing his accomplishments and pointing out that his label hasn't exactly supported him thus far.
"No TV and No Radio.. U do the math. I bet u can name you favorite artist and the turn on the tv and see the video and hear it on the radio. It’s not rocket science. Radio and TV b4 I had a deal, none after and u ask why Pill ain’t blew all the way up," he tweeted. "Artist sign deals, label doesnt do shit for them or don’t even know to work the artist. time wasted. Ask Wiz Khalifa what Warner Bros did for him. I’ll wait.. dropped em. Atlantic signed em put em on TV and Radio and he sky rocketed."
"Mind you, whn I signed I had one of the biggest records in 09′ “Trap Goin Ham” never touched TV never touched radio," Pill added. "Now go back and do your research and see what unsigned artist was neck n neck with Drake’s So Far Gone in 09′ Pill 4180: The Prescription. If I remember tht list correctly. It was Nicki Minaj, Drake, Pill, Wayne, Jeezy. Nw what the hell ws a new cumber like me doin on that list? Because IM DOPE!! That’s why, u ain’t gotta believe it but I know it and won’t ever stop until I get that spot I deserve. Peace. Thanx."
"Top 10 freshman cover of the New Times, unsigned hype MTV fire starter cover Creative Loafing, German magazine’s, French radio, Jimmy kimmel," the rant continued. "Did a movie with Evan Ross and Brittany Snow, Had a documentary air at the UN summit in Geneva, Switzerland, Mark Ronson’s album, toured. in London, countless shows in the states, Short Films, etc. and that with No TV or Radio. Now imagine some push and TV and radio would do."

Pill, DJ Khaled Discuss Rick Ross' Health

DJ Khaled and Pill both weighed in on Miami rapper Rick Ross' health issues in a recent interview. Both men are close associates of Ross, who suffered two seizures in one day while traveling to a show in Memphis. Both say that Ross is fine now, but that his work ethic may have contributed to the seizures.
“It’s the boss, it’s Ricky Rozay. We got a strong hold on the game right now, the game belongs to MMG. So if the boss is in any trouble, everybody’s gonna be concerned,” Pill told DJ Green Lantern. “I myself and the rest of the MMG, we’re very concerned. He good right now. Ross go hard, nonstop, pause. He don’t really take no breaks so I think that just was a result of him not taking breaks. But the most he ever needs is a week off and he good.”
“I am not leaving his side. He is resting, he is chilling and he is actually super focused," added Khaled. "He is at the crib and is going to rest and just chill until he gets his energy back. He is going to take everything one day by day,” he said. “I told him he has to stay home for two weeks. I told him he has got to just chill and reIax. I told him he is a big enough star that he can just stay home. His life is more important.”

Rick Ross x MMG Cover XXL

The gang’s all here. Rozay and the hottest crew in the game cover XXL. Issues hit newsstands September 20th. Peep an excerpt below.
XXL’s new executive editor, Jayson Rodriguez, moderated a roundtable discussion between MMG stars Wale, Meek and Pill, to find out about each rappers role in the crew, what MMG represents as a team and what gives them an advantage over their competitors.
“I think it’s a plus that everybody got their own fan base, they got their own thing rocking in their own city, and they got their own representation of what they stand for,” Pill says. “So when everyone comes together, that’s all the fan bases combined. It’s a blessing to be able to rock with a bunch of different guys that are passionate about the craft and that know where they going and actually can foresee the future, when it comes to their music. I think that gives us a stronghold and a bit of longevity. And kind of an advantage also.”

Pill Explains His Maybach Music Deal

Pill Explains His Maybach Music Deal
Atlanta rapper Pill has seen his profile raised since he joined Rick Ross' Maybach Music imprint. The rapper recently released his mixtape "The Diagnosis," and shared what his approach will be going forward now that he's affiliated with a major label.
"Its just basically me doing my same type of music with just a bigger look and a bigger stamp," Pill told AllHipHop. "Being that Ross got me over at Maybach Music, it's an all around good look and he just wants you to do you. Make sure you put out your music and he can give any type of input that he may feel that you may need, and he don't stop me from trying to do the type of music that I want to put out. I just continue to put out the type of music that I want to put out and that got me signed."
Pill also explained the track "Scotty Pippen, Tim Duncan."
"It just was basically trying to come up with some slang, as a reference to the trap like doing numbers or being numbers," he said. "Something besides going ham, because it seems as if everyone been going ham.... really hard, I was like ' well let me come out with something else right now'. So hopefully that will catch on just as much as the other one did too, but this time I will be credited."
