Plies Addresses Verdict In Shooting Case

Rapper Plies has broken his silence regarding the verdict issued against him yesterday (December 15) in a Florida court regarding a shooting that occurred in 2006 in Gainesville. Plies was found to civilly liable for several people's injuries.
“People with guns who started a fight were the cause of this incident,” Plies told AllHipHop. “Obviously, I’m not happy that it happened as this caused a lot of concerns that I didn’t want or need. Unfortunately, people took this as an opportunity to try to attack me and make money that they did not deserve, rather than asking for fair compensation for their injuries.”
“We offered the plaintiffs a much larger monetary amount than the final verdicts in an attempt to settle this case so as to avoid the litigation costs, attorneys’ fees, time needed to go to trial. However, the plaintiffs’ attorney Christopher Chestnut refused all offers we made,” stated Plies’ defense attorney, Robert A. Rush.

Plies Testifies In Shooting Case

Rapper Plies finally took the stand to defend himself and his entourage in a lawsuit dating back to an incident from 2006. Back then, gunfire erupted at Plies show in Gainesville, Florida and five in attendance were injured. This is the second civil suit the rapper has faced over the shooting.
Allegedly, Plies's brother, Ronell Levatte, and two other men fired shots into the air during the show when Plies' mic was cut off. Plies testified that he had nothing to do with what the other men did.
A court judge previously dismissed the case in July 2010 on the basis that Plies had not fired the weapon. The plaintiffs are now claiming that Plies has profited from their injuries.
