DMX, Eve Join "Rock the Bells" Roster

Veteran hip hop stars and former Ruff Ryders DMX, Jadakiss and Eve have been announced as joining the lineup for the 2012 Rock the Bells festival. Rappers Pusha T and Future have also been added to the lineup.

2 Chainz, J. Cole, Common, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P are all among the artists featured.

The shows will be at San Bernardino, California's NOS Events Center (August 18-19), Mountain View, California's Shoreline Amphitheatre (August 25-26) and Holmdel, New Jersey's PNC Arts Center (September 1-2).

Raekwon Announces American Tour

Raekwon has announced the tour dates for his upcoming "Unexpected Victory" tour. Having already toured Canada, the Wu-Tang lyricist is trekking across the States through most of March and April. The tour begins in St. Louis on March 7th and ends in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on April 20th.

Mac Miller Lands Big Guests On Remix

Mac Miller has announced that he's remixing his song "Of the Soul," and he has a couple of hip hop legends appearing on the new track. Raekwon and Posdnous of De La Soul will be taking part in the "Of the Soul" remix. It should be noted that the song's title is a literal spin on the name 'De La Soul.'

"I'm doing a remix [of 'Of the Soul'] - a real ill remix with two crazy people," he announced. "I just want to announce it just so people get ready and get hyped, but it's me, Posdnous of De La Soul and Raekwon. I'm just waiting on Raekwon to send me his verse, and it's gonna be nuts. But just Posdnous, he was the inspiration for the record - it's 'Of the Soul,' that's the translation of De La Soul - and so I hit him and said, 'You gotta rap on this with me, man.' It was actually Mick Boogie's idea, he hit me and said, 'You should get De La on the song.'" .

Raekwon On Learning From Mistakes

Raekwon recently shared his perspective on longevity and how he's had to learn from the mistakes he made earlier in his career and life. For the acclaimed Wu-Tang lyricist, his success has been hard fought--but he's thankful that he's had the opportunity to take the lessons and apply them.

"I learned about myself and how important my brand is as a person and as a company," Rae says. "I definitely won’t allow myself to fall short on any kind of failure. Based on all the experiences I have in life, especially in this music business, that these are the times you gotta know."

“I realize my powers and where I went wrong with certain things and where I’m able to fix things and that’s all I’ve been working on for the last five years, is self-preservation," he continued. "Not depending on anybody to make my career be more than what it is. It’s like, it’s just about me. What you wanna do, Rae? That was something I had to just go through, know what I mean?”

Rock the Bells Lineup Announced

The Rock the Bells 2011 Festival lineup has been announced. Series. This year's event, presented by Boost Mobile, will feature the usual bevy of stars, including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nas, Cypress Hill, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Raekwon & Ghostface Killah.

The stars will be performing their most beloved classic albums in their entirety; a relatively new tradition that began last year. Lauryn Hill will perform The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, while Cypress Hill will perform Black Sunday, Mobb Deep will perform The Infamous, Black Star will perform Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star, and Nas will treat the crowd to a performance of his masterpiece, 1994's Illmatic, alongside DJ Premier, Pete Rock and AZ.

“For years people have been asking me to do Illmatic in so many ways, from stage plays to movies to books, but the time wasn't right. Where music is going now, the time is right,” said Nas in a statement. "This will be my biggest production and it only makes sense to do it on the best rap tour which also happens to be a brand I've built and am a partner in. Can't wait to kill it with my comrades AZ, Premo & Pete Rock!"

The 8th annual RTB festival will also feature the Paid Dues Stage, curated by Murs, the GrindTime Now Stage (showcasing battles), and the 36 Chambers Stage, featuring Wu-Tang Clan members and affiliates. “I am excited that I once again have the privilege of hosting the Paid Dues Stage,” he said. “We will have the honor of showcasing some of the best talent in independent hip hop as part of the worlds largest and longest running hip hop festival... the Paid Dues stage is gonna be the one to watch this year.”

Rock the Bells 2011 will be hitting San Bernadino and Mountainview, CA, Boston and New York City.

Republican Senator Quotes Raekwon

Republican Illinois State Senator Christine Radogno recently met with rapper Raekown the Chef, and quoted the acclaimed Wu-Tang Clan emcee while discussing fiscal matters. The state of Illinois is facing a $15 billion dollar deficit.

"Some of you may know that last night Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan was in town and I got some financial advice from him which I would like to share with all of you, because it does seem quite relevant," Senator Radogno told the General Assembly. "Their advice to us is the most precious thing in the world is financial security and the well being of your family."

"You want to send your little ones to the best school and in the end you want to know you left them with peace of mind," Senator Rodogno said. "Nowadays we all know that cash rules everything around us. Cream. Get the money. Dollar dollar bill, y’all. Thank you."
