Birdman Defends Drake

Cash Money labelhead Bryan "Birdman" Williams came to the defense of label star Drake in the wake of the brawl that erupted involving the rapper in New York City last week. Birdman says that too many people have the wrong impression of the Toronto-born rapper.
“Well, to me, I think n***as got Drake twisted,” Birdman told MTV. “A lot of n***as be playin', pitty-pattin' with Drake. I don't like that sh*t, period.”
“Drake is one of us, so if you fuckin’ with Drake, you fuckin’ with us, period,” he added.
Nonetheless, Birdman said that he doesn't believe that Drake did anything harmful. “To me, Drizzy ain't did nothin' wrong, he ain't done nothin' wrong to nobody. He just doin' great music," he said. “He's not a reckless guy out there just wildin' out; he's a humble kid makin' great music.”

Chief Keef Signs With Interscope

Just prior to taking the stage at Atlanta's Birthday Bash, rapper Chief Keef inked a record deal with Interscope Records. The teenage rapper from Chicago had been wooed heavily by several hip hop labels, most notably Cash Money Records and T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint, but ultimately decided to go with Jimmy Iovine's label.
"I've been talkin' to a lot of labels, but I just noticed that Interscope got people like 50, Eminem," Keef told RapFix about the decision.
Keef was also reportedly given his own label deal for his GBE imprint and was given a multi-movie film deal with Interscope's motion picture division. The rapper also was reportedly guaranteed his own Beats By Dre signature headphone line.

Cash Money Is Eying Rick Ross

Birdman Williams revealed in a recent interview that Cash Money Records has interest in recruiting Miami rap superstar Rick Ross. While Birdman understands that Ross is currently signed to Def Jam, the Cash Money head says that he is very interested in pursuing Ross when the time is right.
"Ross signed to Def Jam and you know Ross is a close friend of mine. But if the time ever came, we gonna G up and make it happen. Right now he signed to Def Jam, but when the time do come, I'm gonna be right there waiting," Birdman said. "I've been seeing Ross. I like his hustle. You can see how he patterned his whole thing around how we do what we do and he's following the blueprint straight up. I got nothing but love and respect for Rozay. I watched him do it and he did it from nothing. He's still grounded and that's what I love about him. He's got a solid team. They've got some great music over there."

Birdman Wants To Retire With Wayne?

The closeness between Lil Wayne and Cash Money CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams has been well-documented. Birdman added another twist to the legendary 'bro-mance' in a recent interview, when the mogul revealed that he doesn't plan on stopping--at least not until Weezy does.
“One thing about my son is that what he says is what he means," Birdman said. "When he does retire, that’s when I’m going to stop f**king with it altogether because it ain’t gonna be no need. He’s going to take us where we need to go. When he retires, that’s when I stop."
Wow. These guys are really joined at the hip.

Birdman On Jay-Z Diss:

Birdman spoke up recently about Jay-Z's perceived dig at him on the track "It's Good." Back in 2010, Jay tossed off a line about having 'baby money,' that everyone interpreted as a diss aimed squarely at Bryan "Birdman/Baby" Williams--and the Cash Money CEO shared his reaction to hearing the song for the first time.
"I thought that was funny for a n*gga to holler out 'baby money,'" Birdman says. "I was like, "Wow, f*ck, what do you mean 'Baby money'? N*gga, that ain't no little money. We around here getting it. It wasn't nothing, we ain't trip. I was like, 'Yeah, since it's such a big deal, f*ck yeah we got 'Baby Money.' That Bugatti and that Lauder jet comes from 'Baby Money.'"
"I don't think ['It's Good'] is a diss record. It wasn't more than what he said. N***as was G'ing up about what was said," Birdman continued. "We did that, done that, off that brother. We're on our money train."

Cash Money Faces Another Lawsuit

Cash Money Records is being sued by EMI because the label has reportedly failed to pay quarterly royalty payments previously agreed upon as part of a 2009 settlement between the parties. The label reportedly owes $491,000 in royalties for samples from EMI catalog.
“Because Defendant has ignored numerous communications from EMI regarding Defendant’s contractual obligations, EMI once more is being forced to commence a lawsuit against Defendant to recover royalty payments,” the complaint states. “The sales of Defendant’s products have far exceeded the payments that EMI has received.”
“It is clear from Defendant’s conduct that it has no intention of honoring the Agreement,” the complaint continues. “Because Defendant has ignored numerous communications from EMI regarding Defendant’s contractual obligations, EMI once more is being forced to commence a lawsuit against Defendant to recover royalty payments,” states the complaint. “The sales of Defendant’s products have far exceeded the payments that EMI has received.”

50 Cent Doubts Birdman's Bet?

50 Cent told Yahoo about the the money he has riding on his hometown New York Giants in tonight's Super Bowl and clarified a weird Twitter rumor about him supposedly going nude if Eli Manning and Co. lost the big game.
"This is what happens," 50 Cent explained. "People say really crazy things on my Twitter, and I say, 'Okay,' so my fans can see what crazy people are saying." About the money, 50 said, "I won [five hundred-thousand] on a bet on the last Giants game. So I said I'll bet it back. ...It would just be risking what I won the first time."
50 also expressed some doubt about Cash Money head Bryan "Birdman/Baby" Williams' alleged $5 million bet on the New England Patriots. "Baby has said he has five million dollars on the Patriots. I think he just was passionate about the Patriots winning and he just said that. I don't think he would actually bet five million dollars," 50 said.

Birdman Following Thru On Bet?

Bryan "Birdman" Williams claimed two weeks ago that he was going to bet $5 million on the New York Giants in the upcoming Super Bowl. While some people, including rapper 50 Cent, didn't seem to take the Cash Money CEO seriously, it looks like he could go through with it.
BetOnline said that they would take the bet if he was willing to make it.
"If Birdman is prepared to put his money where his mouth is, we are prepared to accept his $5 million wager on either the point spread or the money line of Super Bowl XLVI," said Dave Mason, BetOnline brand manager, in a statement. "Birdman simply needs to go to BetOnline and register online. Then, he can email me directly and I will provide him wire instructions in order to get his $5 million in post-up funds sent in a timely manner so we can proceed with the bet. Once Birdman's bet is in, we will release a snapshot of the bet in his account, and Birdman will finally have proof that he is the sports bettor who he boasts of being."

Birdman Denies Signing Rumors

Bryan "Birdman" Williams, Cash Money Records CEO, is denying rumors that his label will be signing Memphis rapper Young Buck and/or West Coast rapper Lil B in the near future. Birdman admitted that he admires and respects both artists, but there is currently nothing on the table.
"Both of them is two of the little homies I have the utmost respect for," he said. " I don't know Lil B's situation. I don't know Buck's situation. I'm friends to both of them. If the opportunity ever came, I would love to work with both of them. I know Buck is in a situation. I really don't know Lil B's situation, he's real cool with my son [Lil] Wayne. I got love and respect for both of them, but they never came across the menu ye -- I spoke with Buck a few times, he's been a friend of the family. B is a friend of the family. But it ain't came to none of that. Not to this point. We like to be new, young. My son [Wayne] does the newer acts [on Young Money]. On our side [Cash Money] it be more veteran."

Mannie Fresh Wants His Money

Superproducer Mannie Fresh is still waiting on Cash Money to give him his money. Fresh was the man behind virtually all of the label's early hits, but he and the label parted ways due to financial issues. According to Mannie, those issues haven't been resolved.
"We still have money issues. We will always have them, as long as Cash Money is selling anything that has Mannie Fresh on it. 'Til this day, I'm like, 'Dude, what's going on? Where are the statements for this?' There's always some kind of complication, that's all I can say," Fresh said in an interview. "Everybody has to get paid. It would be something large if Cash Money did a tour with the first generation of artists, but with everything that's happened, we need money upfront and on top of that we all need our own attorneys. You don't get my money and pay me-I get my money directly."
