Drake Wants Sade, Timberlake

In a recent interview with MTV, Young Money superstar Drake revealed that there are two superstars he'd love to be in the studio with. Drake shared the two collaborators that top his wish list during the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
"I would love to do a collaboration with Justin Timberlake, and [Noah "40" Shebib]...he produced with Sade, and I would love to do a song with Sade," said Drake.
Drake has sought Sade ever since 2009, when he attempted to get the iconic-but-elusive singer to appear on his debut album Thank Me Later.

Drake Officially Confirms Aaliyah Project

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding Drake and the posthumous Aaliyah album that he says is in the works. Despite the fact that the late singer's brother claimed that the family doesn't know anything about an album, Drake has spoken about the project, stating what his goals are for the project.
"People should be really excited," he told MuchMusic. "A lot of people thought 'Enough Said' was my single. It's not my single. It's all off of an Aaliyah project that me and 40 are commanding."
"To get 13-14 new Aaliyah songs, everybody should be excited," he noted. "It's not about me. It's not about 40. It's about her and her fans and us just getting an opportunity to give you something we feel is great."
"We're gonna pull in some classic people," he shared. "Anybody who used to work with Aaliyah or that was essential in her career, we definitely hope to have them involved."

Drake Discusses Third Album

Drake put aside his personal drama and spoke to MTV News about his musical growth and what he anticipates will be his focus as he gears up to record his follow-up to 2011's Take Care.
“The music that I make is bigger than the box that people try to put us all in as rappers,” Drake explained. “And people always try and draw me back to that like ‘Nah just rap.’ Nah, I’m good. I like what I do. No one can do what I do, period. That’s how I feel. Nobody can really do what I do, what we do. Including 40 and all the producers that I work with.”
“[There's] nothing necessarily for me to step up and say I want to fight for, but there is a way for me to give moments to the world, and to bear my emotions and hope that I'm remembered as that guy who was able to bring people together," he added. "I want to be that guy. I want to bring people together."

Drake's Producer Praises Kanye

Drake's producer, 40 Shebib, acknowledged the tremendous influence that rapper/producer Kanye West has had on his career. Drake's music has been compared to Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak album, and Shebib admits that Yeezy's sound is a point-of-reference.
"I look up to that guy like crazy. I always have and I always will," 40 said. "That's someone who's carved out a sound for rap music a couple of times, who has really influenced and changed the game as an individual. It would be crazy to say there's competition." He added that people should understand the difference between stealing another artist's style and being influenced by him. "You're supposed to be a hybrid. When you got T.I. and Nas and Jay-Z and Wayne and Kanye and Eminem, all these different types of rappers from different places and so on and so forth, I would expect a couple of years after that a new rapper would comes out who incorporates all of those people. Because that's the evolution of it and that's what will always happen, so I don't even look at it as like biting or stealing or this or that," 40 said.

Drake's Producer Disses Common?

Drake's producer and longtime friend, Noah "40" Shebib, has come to the Toronto rapper's defense in his ongoing (and, up to this point, one-sided) feud with Common. 40 took to Twitter to share how Common's music played a role in 40's childhood--and not exactly a positive one.
The producer sarcastically recalled being mocked for listening to the Chicago rapper.
"@common, I remember being called a b*tch in grade 9 cause I had your cd. Good thing I also had 456 by kool g rap on me. Now that's real ;)," he tweeted. "After [1997's] "one day it'll all make sense" came out I spent months arguing weather or not @common was hip hop. Everyone was saying it was too rnb."
"I'm not dissing, just facts. I love common. I also love swv and John b," he added.
Rapper Q-Tip came to Common's defense, and 40 'clarified' his position. "@QtipTheAbstract, never! Common is in my top 5 always has been," 40 tweeted. "Hes also been brave enough to be different. I respect that as well. #irony"

Drake Still Fleshing Out Album

Drake Still Fleshing Out Album
It looks like Drake's follow-up to 2010's Thank Me Later is taking shape--but that doesn't mean anyone really knows exactly what shape that is. The Toronto-born superstar is hard on work on his sophomore release, but according to contributing producer T-Minus, the overall album and theme and vision have yet to come into focus.
"I was just in the studio for three days in Toronto with Drake and T-Pain, trying to come up with some records," Minus revealed in an interview. "Drake just went on tour, so when he gets back we're probably going to get back in the studio to do some more work. But his album is a work in progress. [The other day] I was up for 24 hours because we were at the studio the entire night. The new songs were a mix of [rapping and singing]. He actually just did a record in the studio with [producer] 40, and man it sounded crazy. It was more of a R&B record, and T-Pain was on it as well, but man, when that finished product comes out it's going to be nuts. Right now, there's no true direction [for Take Care]. I couldn't tell you whether it's going to be a lot of singing, or a lot of rapping, or a little of both. Right now it's still fresh. I think he's probably going to drop like in the fall, possibly October. But I'm not too sure."
I heard producer 1220 sent him a few tracks as well. Looks like more good music to come.
