Kid Cudi Explains G.O.O.D. Bond

Kid Cudi has always been one for isolation. The rapper famously crowned himself "Mr. Solo Dolo," but he recently opened up about his links to the G.O.O.D. Music family and why he feels more solidarity with his crew than ever.
"It's the only time where I feel like I'm around people that understand me," he told Complex. "I felt like an orphan before then. It's good for me, man. I don't really click well with people. I don't know what it is, but everybody in this family, I click with. From 2 Chainz to Big Sean to Q-Tip. I've been seeing Q-Tip since I've started in this business and he's always had my back. You can look online and check. I'm just really happy that everybody embraced me and they don't think I'm too much of a nut job. When you work with your family, it's love behind every record and you want everybody to win. I love hearing Pusha rap. I love hearing his raps, man. It will never get old. I've told him that. And that's the exciting thing. I'm around people that I'm a fan of, that I grew up on and sh*t, and I can watch them create and do what they do and I can contribute and be a part of history. It's wild."

"Y'all probably missed it but I officially gave Skip swag," Chainz said in behind-the-scenes footage. "See his suit? Looks like he got it out of Scarface's closet. ... I thought, 'You should have this.' Since he's always talking about LeBron [James], this is something you should wear in Miami. This is a Miami piece. It can hold the keys to his Porsche on the other side of it. [laughs]"

Ma$e's Advice To 2 Chainz

2 Chainz gushed about a phone call from hip hop veteran Ma$e and the advice the former Bad Boy Records star gave 2 Chainz about his burgeoning hip hop career. Ma$e reportedly passed on some words that he himself and learned from the late Notorious B.I.G.
"A legend hit me the other day," Chainz said in an interview with radio host Big Boy. "This my first time putting it in an interview. But Ma$e hit me the other day and told me he was a fan of my music, dog. And then he told me something that Biggie said and I felt like Biggie told it to me. ... Biggie told Ma$e at the time they was popping, whatever, he said, 'Get it while you can and can it when you get it.' And I was like, it felt like Biggie had told me. That phone call just meant so much. Stuff like that lets me know I'm covering ground."

2 Chainz To Serve As A&R For "Ludaversal"

Ludacris' relationship with several former members of his Disturbing Tha Peace camp has soured, but he and 2 Chainz appear to still have a great working camaraderie. 2 Chainz revealed in a recent interview that he will be serving as A&R on Luda's upcoming album Ludaversal.
"My job is to give him beats from my perspective, from where I come from," 2 Chainz explained. "I have a long history of club shows and rocking out and he's a more venue artist. So I'm just trying to give him some looks from my eyes and perspective."
"I'm just submitting beats from my eyes, different from what Luda usually does, that's why he hired me," he said. "Me and Luda are definitely two different artists. So, it will be different. I do a lot of clubs. So I'm just submitting 2 Chainz s***. Different things I think he would need or doesn't f*** with."

2 Chainz Inspired By Lil Wayne

2 Chainz first came to national attention as a member of Playaz Circle, who had their first major hit with the Lil Wayne-assisted "Duffle Bag Boy." In a recent interview with AlLindstrom, 2 Chainz explained just how much knowing Weezy helped keep him inspired.
"The thing behind me and Wayne was that he always believed in me as a musician, as well as being a cool dude," said 2 Chainz. "And everybody thought he was the illest n***a in the world. So that's where my confidence kinda started. Just derived from him. It's like, 'everybody f*cks with you, and you f*ck with me!' So that's where our relationship came in."
"He used to say encouraging things that I'm sure another rapper, [if] that didn't get that, they'd start figuring something else out," he added. "Me even being around him, seeing what they have, seeing the things you can get from puttin' words together, it kinda kept me inspired."

Kanye Joins 2 Chainz On "106 & Park"

Rapper 2 Chainz had a special guest with him when he showed up on BET’s “106 & Park” yesterday (April 9th.) 2 Chainz brought Kanye West out when he appeared on the popular show and West sat silently throughout the interview. 2 Chainz recorded with G.O.O.D. Music and wanted to show Kanye some love on the show.
“First of all, I’d like to say it’s a blessing to be on the track with all those guys at one time,” he said of West. “Let me introduce the genius behind it. Because I’m tired of explaining it.”
“First of all, I feel like Kanye is the best producer in the world. The way that he describes things, the way that he sees things is different from anyone else. It’s an honor. It’s a pleasure to just be in the studio with him at the same time, and just clashing worlds. My background, my resume is filled with street credibility music, trap rap. He kind of brings his colors and images to what I’m doing. So he’ll definitely be a part of my project, dropping August 14th, Based on a T.R.U. Story.”
“We need more Kanyes. He really speaks how he feels. A lot of things that I want to say, I don’t feel I’m in a position or have a right or platform to say it,” he said. “It just feels good for him to have the mental capacity to know when to tap into urban America, when to cross over, when to take it overseas. He just has the ability to do so many things, and he’s just including me in the equation. I just feel blessed, man.”
