Azealia Banks Disses Funkmaster Flex

Azealia Banks may be trying to get into the Guinness Book for the most Twitter beefs in a year. The brash Harlemite has feuded with Iggy Azalea, T.I., Kreayshawn, Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Jim Jones and now, Funkmaster Flex. She blasted the Hot 97 personality after he 'dared' speak about her ongoing situation with Jim Jones.
"lol u old dusty fat f**k," she tweeted. "Tell that n***a Jim to defend himself ... You stay out of it and have yourself a glass of fat free water."
"Just join the #K*NTBRIGADE ... You're obviously K*nty Hunty," she continued. "Lol funk flex is a butch queen. Lol funk flex loves to pick on women... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's FISH!"
"You can call my p***y and I can squirt in your face n***ahhhh !!!!!!!!!" she also tweeted.

Iggy Azalea Explains Label Issues

Iggy Azalea's label situation has been confusing for many of her fans and the media. While many thought initially that she was signed to Interscope Records, it was later revealed that she was with T.I.'s Grand Hustle label. Then Tip declared her a 'free agent,' which seemed to further confound everyone. Now, Iggy is taking the time to explain her label issues.
"I'm with Grand Hustle and I can distribute my album through whatever major I'd like to when I'm ready to do that, and I guess that's what Tip meant when he said I'm a free agent," she said. "People misconstrued that and thought it meant that I was not with Grand Hustle. I don't have a distribution deal, so I'm free to sign with whatever major in conjunction with Grand Hustle, which is what was originally going to be happening with me, Grand Hustle and Interscope, and we didn't agree on [a specific deal] but when I'm ready I can."
"We had an agreement [with Interscope], and Tip and Grand Hustle weren't a part of it, and when they came along and we tried to restructure things differently, pieces of the pie get cut up differently and sometimes, people aren't happy with their piece of the pie," she continued. "So it was a little bit of that and it was a little bit of feeling a little bit misunderstood by the type of artist I'd like to be and the type of artist they perhaps had in mind for me."

A$AP Rocky Talks Banks Vs. Iggy

A$AP Rocky downplayed the Iggy Azalea/Azealia Banks beef. Despite the rumors that he and Iggy have been romantically involved, Rocky says the issue has nothing to do with him. Nonetheless, the rapper also says that he thinks the young ladies should squash the whole thing.
"I don't really got nothin' to say about that situation, that ain't got nothin' to do with me," Rocky said laughing. "I know both of 'em, that's all I do is know both of 'em."
Rocky is a Harlem native, like Banks and has a 'history' with Iggy--but he's not taking sides.
"I know both of 'em, and I feel like they shouldn't be beefin'. They both comin' up; they need to get along," Rock said. "I think they'd make a dope song together, personally."

Iggy Azalea Posts, Deletes Booty Shots

Is Iggy Azalea learning the ropes of superstardom?
The up-and-coming rapper loves to post pics on Instagram and she took the stage at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles last night (May 13th) to perform fan favorites like "Pu$$Y" and "Me, Myself, My Money."
Iggy was posting pics the entire night, but definitely got a few eyebrows (among other things) raised when she began posting steamy pics of her backside. The Australian siren is becoming as well-known for her ass-ets as she is her music, so maybe she wanted to just give the public what they wanted.
"The camera captures everything BUT the moment," she posted.
Nonetheless, the steamy pics were deleted soon after. So maybe someone told her to save the backshots for another time.

B.o.B. Staying Out of Iggy/Banks Beef

B.o.B. steered clear of adding any fuel to the fire of the Iggy Azalea/Azealia banks beef. Iggy and B.o.B. are both part of the Grand Hustle family, but B.o.B. says he isn't interested in jumping into the middle of any feud. Grand Hustle head T.I. has already gotten himself in the middle of hip hop's current catfight, but don't expect Bobby Ray to go there.
"I'm definitely always gonna ride for my team, always. There's no doubt in mind, but as an individual you have to understand what is your business and what isn't your business," he explained. "Now, if something spills over into my court, then I have to handle my business. But as of yet I really don't attract that type of energy to myself."

Nas Praises Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj has her fair share of haters, but rapper Nas isn't one of them. The two have collaborated before, and Nas says that the public should give Nicki credit for being the lone female rapper holding her own currently atop the charts with all of the men.
"I mean it was crazy cause Nicki is out there doing it," Nas said in an interview. "She's like the only female doing it. You got some new ones out her doing it--Azealia Banks, Iggy Azalea--you got them. But since we don't hear much from Eve, [Lil] Kim and Foxy [Brown] these days, nobody can't front, Nicki is representing. To be on her album, that sh*t was crazy. ... She put me on ['Champions'] with Drake and [Young] Jeezy -- that's a recipe of a masterpiece. I thought it was a perfect record and I think Nicki killed that sh*t."

T.I. Fires Back At Azealia Banks

The feud between Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea took another twist today (April 23rd) with Iggy's mentor, rapper T.I. addressing Banks' previous comments directed at him. Banks criticized T.I. via Twitter for speaking on the feud before and for supporting Iggy despite the Australian femcee's controversial rhyme about being a 'runaway slave master.'
But T.I., while claiming to not be involved, made sure to let Banks know how he felt about her and the feud.
"I ain’t even know nothin’ about it. I didn’t even see it. I know they going through their thing, but the fact that she’s speaking upon me and mine, that is what I consider b*tch sh*t. I’m a man. You ain’t got no business addressing me," he said. "You and me, keep dealing with that woman. Y’all handle that. You and me, we ain’t got nowhere to go with that."

Iggy Azalea's 2Pac Connection

With 2Pac on the minds of seemingly everyone in hip hop right now due to his now-infamous 'appearance' at the 2012 Coachella Festival, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea discussed the fallen icon's influence on her music and career during an appearance on MTV2.
"I had two friends that lived down the road from me. They were older boys...and the older kids have the big music collection; they know what's cool," said Azalea. "They played a Tupac song, 'Baby Don't Cry,' with the Outlawz."
"I just loved that song. I don't know what it was. ...That's when I knew I liked rap. I knew that I loved rap music, I knew that I loved to sing along to the words," she says. "It takes a while before you have the guts to put yourself in their shoes and thing this is something I could actually do."
From there, Iggy joined a girl group. "I ended up being in this little...not really a group, but these other girls that lived down the street, they wanted to sing...and I could not sing," she shares. " I was like, I could be the rapper. This could be like TLC. I'll be Left Eye."
"They didn't take it serious; it was fun for them. I take everything I do serious," she added. "I'm too competitive."

Iggy Azalea Recalls Joining Grand Hustle

Iggy Azalea discussed her joining Grand Hustle how the process was somewhat difficult after she landed a deal with Interscope Records just a few months prior. The Australian rapper says that she had to restructure the Interscope deal.
"I didn't know I was gonna sign to Grand Hustle," Azalea told MTV News. "There's no way I thought that would happen. Not because I didn't like them, just because my deal was all sewn up, and I restructured the whole thing."
"[Jimmy] likes Tip, and they're good friends, so it worked out," she explained. "But it made everybody so confused, because everyone was like, 'I thought she was signed to Interscope; Grand Hustle is with Atlantic.'"

Eve Scolds Nicki & Iggy Azalea?

Eve has taken the high road in the highly-publicized feuds between some of her fellow female rappers, but now the respected femcee is giving her honest opinion about some of the younger generation picking up the microphone. In a recent interview with Women of Hip Hop, the Philly rhymer talked about numerous women in rap--but had some particularly eye-catching comments about superstar Nicki Minaj and newcomer Iggy Azalea.
"It's not about publicity. It's about wanting that respect," Eve said in an interview. "I think maybe that's where Kim is coming from, like, you're doing your thing right now and no one can take that away from you, Nicki--we all see it--but at the end of the day, if it wasn't for Kim, she wouldn't be here and that sh*t is real."
Later in the interview, E-V-E shared her opinion on Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks. She likes latter more than the former.
"I like Azealia Banks. I think her style is dope. If you listen to her lyrics, she knows how to wordplay and I think that's cute," she said, before adding, "I'm not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can't really f*ck with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can't believe it."

Iggy Azalea didn't back down

Iggy Azalea didn't back down from the topic of race in hip hop during a recent interview with DAZED magazine. The Aussie femcee said that she knows the perceptions that men, hip hop fans and others have regarding her music.
"Being a teenage white girl didn't make me stand out as much as you'd imagine - Australia has a lot of white kids in it!" Iggy said. "There weren’t too many girls on the mic but there were definitely a lot of girls at the events because it was a cool place to hang out; and a place to meet boys and look cute. I always felt in my heart that I was a champion, so hearing boo's from a crowd just made me want to prove them all wrong and get better."
"Race, to me, is a low blow that people just use when they have nothing real to hate on," she says. "To me, being a woman is the biggest hindrance; a lot of people don't want to see a woman on the mic, just like they don't want to see a woman play an electric guitar. There are a million and one things that I go through as a woman and as a human being that we can all relate to, and color is just an extremely small thing to me. I have to view it that way if I want the rest of the world to take on that mind frame too."
"There are a million and one stereotypes people try to put on me every day," Iggy shared. "How a woman should act, how an Australian should act, how a white person should act, what ‘real rap’ is, what we consider to be beautiful. I’m blind to them all in my creative process. A stereotype should never hinder art if you’re brave about it, and I try to be."

Iggy Azalea Hits the Gold Room

Iggy Azalea's getting more and more attention--both online and in the real world--and it doesn't hurt that the sexy Australian has come under the wing of one of the most respected men in hip hop. Iggy was spotted hanging out in Atlanta with her mentor, Grand Hustle head T.I.--and his wife, Tiny.
The celebs were spotted out partying at Atlanta's Gold Room this week. Several other Grand Hustle affiliates were spotted in attendance--as well as a few
The trio were presumably celebrating the release of Iggy's single "Murda Bizness" this week.

A$AP Rocky Defends Iggy Azalea

A$AP Rocky came to the defense of his friend--and rumored love interest--Iggy Azalea. In a recent interview, Rocky blasted those that have accused Iggy of being racist due to a line about being 'a runaway slave master' in her song "D.R.U.G.s"
The line has come under intense scrutiny since Iggy's rival, Azealia Banks, called her a racist for having said the phrase.
"They gotta cut it out. That's bullsh*t. Iggy is not racist," A$AP Rocky promised in an interview. "Trust me, truuusst me. That's some bullsh*t. I think that's petty for Azealia because, come on, don't pick on her because she's White. That's a low blow."

Iggy Azalea Talks Sex

Iggy Azalea discussed her sexual-charged content in many of her songs during a recent interview with Complex. The Australia starlet acknowledged that sex is part of image--but not the total picture. Iggy also feels that her being frank about sex is only controversial in America.
"So much of what I do that’s controversial in America wouldn’t be a big deal back home. America is a highly sexualized society but people are afraid to admit what they like," she explained. "When people tell me that I have to be sexy that’s demeaning, not powerful...to a lot of people, a powerful, sexy woman is vulgar. When I first came out people said, 'She only raps about her vagina.' I’m not a vagina rapper! [Laughs]. I talk about many other things."

Iggy Azalea Issues Apology

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea's line “Tire marks, tire marks / Finish line with the fire marks / When the relay starts, I’m a runaway slave / Master” on “D.R.U.G.S.” from a few months ago has garnered attention and controversy amongst some hip hop fans and Iggy's fellow upstart femcee Azealia Banks.
Iggy finally addressed the controversy and issued an official statement and apology for her flippant verbiage and attempted to clarify her position and intent.
Dear world,
Im writing you today to address a lyric I said a few months ago in one of my songs that I feel has been used to unfairly slander my character and paint me as a racist person.
Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite artists and I loved his song ‘Look Out for Detox’ so much I decided to do my own version of it last year. The lyrics I wrote follow the original version closely; One lyric in particular has offended a lot of people and for that, I apologize.
The artist’s lyric was: “when the relay starts I’m a runway slave”
My lyric was: “when the relay starts I’m a runaway slave…Master, shitting on the past gotta spit it like a pastor
This is a metaphoric take on an originally literal lyric, and I was never trying to say I am a slave owner.
The intent was to say was that past histories have been mastered, or overcome, and that you may feel my line was ‘sh***ing on the past,’ just as many feel pastors sh*t on the bible or biblical history…although they mean no ill and just have their own take, hence the lyric ‘gotta spit it like a pastor.’
In all fairness, it was a tacky and careless thing to say and if you are offended, I am sorry. Sometimes we get so caught up in our art and creating or trying to push boundaries, we don’t stop to think how others may be hurt by it. In this situation, I am guilty of doing that and I regret not thinking things through more.
I don’t hate any race of people, and it pains me to wake up to other young people being misled to believe I do. I am for unity and equality. People should get a fair shot at whatever they want to do no matter what color they are; rap and hip hop as a culture is not exempt from this.
It is unfair to say other races who also grew up listening to rap don’t get a place too. We have a place and the Azaleans and myself are evidence of that fact. All people have a voice and equal right to use it.
In your lifetime you will say a lot of things you will wish you hadn’t too. I have to have my poor choice of words live with me forever on the internet. Please know that I have grown from this and hope to have your continued support in life and my mission of bridging the gap.
As one of my lovely azaleans said last week: we are the prototype and far beyond the stereotype.
Love always,
Iggamonster.

Azealia Banks Disses T.I.

Azealia Banks seems to have figured out that nothing beats controversy when you're trying to promote yourself. Ever since she first began gaining notice, the NYC rapper has gotten attention for antagonizing other stars--ranging from Kreayshawn to Nicki Minaj. But ever since Australian rapper Iggy Azalea made XXL's 2012 Freshman cover--which Banks did not--Azealia has decided to make a full-time job out of taking shots at the Aussie rapper.
But once superstar T.I.--who is Iggy's mentor and who is executive producing her debut album--made some cracks about Banks--it was open season on the King of the South.
"Lol I NEVER needed the next n***a to sit up on a radio show with me and defend me.," she tweeted. "Ahahahhahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa"
"Furthermore, n***as r sitting up here trying to mask/defend what homegirl said. F*ck outta here," Banks continued. "Everybody got something slick to say, but no one got an explanation."
"Come on T.I.... N***as is not scared of u and whatever sh*t u got to say on some radio show," Banks tweeted. @tip you corny for that one."
"LMFAOO how u a grown man commenting on what's going on between two girls?" she added. "Come on son. Stop it."

Iggy Azalea On Joining Interscope:

Newcomer Iggy Azalea explained exactly why she chose to join Interscope Records. The Australian femcee shared in a recent interview just what it was that led to her joining Jimmy Iovine's label--and she says it wasn't as simple as her following her management company.
"I thought it was the best route for me, so that's why I ended up signing [with Interscope]," she explained. "It didn't have to do with my management being Interscope. If anything, it made me question [signing the deal] more because having management and [my] label be the same company can get tricky...to me, Interscope is kind of like a family and I know so many people at the label so well. I think when you're making a commitment that's that big and...for that length of time...you really want to know the people and I didn't feel so hesitant to work with them because I felt like I had such a long relationship with them prior to that...I've had an outside relationship with that label for a long time, almost two years."

Iggy Azalea Responds To Disses

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea's inclusion on XXL's Freshman cover sparked a lot of hostile reactions--most notably from fellow newcomer Azealia Banks. Iggy took the high road initially when Banks blasted her via Twitter, but today (February 29), the Aussie fired back at the critics.
"The blog titles should read "girl uses iggy azaleas name for shine" not "beef" get a grip. Two ppl have to care for beef to happen.," she tweeted. "Too much talking, not enough music being made. Let's do what we all came to do best MAKE MUSIC. F*ck the gossip and yapping. It's stupid."
"Real b*tches feel me. #HustleGang" she added. "S/O to the females that stay positive and respectful. The cover is a win for all the girls... Hope next year there's 2 on the cover!"

Azealia Banks vs. Iggy Azalea

It looks like Azealia vs. Azalea has finally happened.
Newcomer Azealia Banks blasted fellow newbie Azalea Banks' inclusion on the XXL "Freshman Class" issue cover. Banks posted on Twitter her feelings regarding the blonde Australian and--of course--she wasn't praising Iggy.
“Iggy Azalea on the XXL freshman list is all wrong,” tweeted Banks. “How can you endorse a white woman who called herself a ‘runaway slave master’?”
“Sorry guys. But I’m pro black girl. I’m not anti white girl, but I’m also not here for any1 outside of my culture trying to trivialize very serious aspects of it.”
For her part, Iggy took the high road. “You can’t block my blessings! Today I’m celebrating! Get with it or kick rocks!” she tweeted--without directly addressing Banks. “First female freshman. Ever. Period. Thanks world! I used to stick XXL on my bedroom door, now I’m on the cover. Life is great.”
