Kandi Burruss Defends Sex Toys

Kandi Burruss has become as well-known for her line of sex toys as she is for being a famous singer/songwriter and for being one of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta." In a recent interview with fellow Bravo 'Housewife' Bethenny Frenkel on Frenkel's new talk show, Burruss dismissed the sex toy stigma in the Black community.
"Well the crazy thing is I didn’t try to make it a race issue," she said. "I think because I’m black, obviously, I had alot of people come up to me and say “Did you realize you’re the face of black women being more liberated and talking about sex,” and I didn’t realize that until now. In our community, that black community, it is very hush hush to talk about sex. Everything is hush hush, like you can’t talk about that."
"Black men a lot of times are not down with that at all because it’s this whole thing of ‘Black men are supposed to be swinging,’ which a lot of them are not!" she shared. "But they feel like ‘You don’t need that, I’m handling things around here.’ A lot of times men are pretty much guaranteed to get the 'AHHHHH' moment. We don’t always get the 'AHHHHH' moment every single time. So if we don’t get that every single time, why can’t we get a little bit of extra…?"

Kandi Burruss Touring Sex Shops?

Singer/songwriter reality star Kandi Burruss is no stranger to the freakier side of things. She's admitted she 'got down' with superproducer Jermaine Dupri during her days with 90s girl group Xscape, she hosts her own online sex talk show and won "Best Overall Sex Toy" at the Adult Video News Awards for her product line "Bedroom Kandi."
It looks like the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star could be hitting the road.
According to AllHipHop, Kandi may be going on a sex shop tour, stopping at specialty stores around the country. She's quite proud of her toy line and its popularity only continues to grow. “We have one button if you choose you can connect it to your stereo or mp3 [player], iPod or whatever and that vibrates to whatever song is playing on the stereo system,” said Kandi

Kandi Burruss Talks Sex

Kandi Burruss isn't afraid to talk about sex. The singer/songwriter/reality star 'opened up' about her line of sex toys and how she feels many women--and men--are sexually repressed. She wants people to let go of their 'fear' of all things naughty.
"I say that they need to try it at least once because it may change your whole life. A lot of people are scared of sex toys. Why would you be scared of them? They won’t hurt you. All they’ll do is make things better. A lot of women have never experienced an orgasm. You definitely need to explore your own body. In doing so, that’s going to help sex be better with your partner. It’s weird because some people don’t even know where their actual clitoris is."
Wow.

Kandi Burruss Defends "Housewives"

Singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss is defending reality TV and her show, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." The show is popular but controversial and a lot of people feel it perpetuates negative stereotypes of Black women. Kandi said those people need to check themselves.
"Before I even joined the show everybody was talking about how it brought down the image of black people and black women," Burruss says. "But I always tell people when you come on a reality show you’re not trying to represent for a whole race, you’re just doing you. You hope people think you’re interesting and people like it. The one thing people don’t give as far as our series, The Real housewives of Atlanta; we are a majority black cast on a network that doesn’t have that many shows featuring African Americans. So for us to be the number one show on that network…..why people don’t give us any props for that, I don’t even understand."
"Yes, it does play into the stereotype of what people say black women are with the neck popping, finger rolling or whatever but I don’t feel like it’s any different than the New Jersey Housewives where it’s mostly Italian Americans on there," Kandi pointed out. "What they do on that show? It’s a lot of hot headed Italians on that show but I don’t see their communities saying “ Oh, they’re not representing us Italian Americans correctly or they’re not representing white women correctly.”
"I feel like we as black people can be very critical of our own race and I don’t even think it should be a thing of 'How are they representing us?'," she continued. "Guess what? If you had a camera on you for six months and they taped as much as they wanted to tape and edited it down, I’m sure they’re going to have some moments where you’re showing out too.:
