50 Cent Opens Up About His Parents

Appearing on "Larry King Now," hip-hop superstar 50 Cent spoke at-length about his parents. The South Jamaica, Queens native opened up about his long-deceased mother, who was murdered.
"I don't think I really dealt with it in the early stages," said 50 Cent. "I lost my mom when I was eight, so I didn't really understand at that point."
"Later, they would consistently say, 'She's not coming back,' and I'm like, 'Yeah she is.' My grandfather would look at me like, 'He doesn't understand,'" he recalled. "Later, you grow and start to understand."
50 has no desire to connect with his long-lost father, however.
"I never knew my father. I never actually met him," 50 said. "Some people have that thing where they want that parent that they haven't had in their lives. I have no interest in it."
"The mistakes I made early on... he could've been here to help me not make those mistakes," he added.

50 Cent Gets Approved To Promote

According to reports, hip hop mogul 50 Cent has been approved for a boxing promoter's license by the state of Nevada. 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson, and attorney Leon Margules, will also provide the commission with two years worth of Jackson's income tax returns, a financial statement listing the fighters SMS has under contract and a letter stating that the assets that had previously been under TMT's name are now in SMS's name.
The news effectively ends TMT (The Money Team) as a promotions operation.
50 Cent allegedly said that, despite the fact that he and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. had agreed to go into business together as TMT, Mayweather decided to take a different route after being released from prison. "But I had already invested $1.5 million in acquiring fighters and I would like to move forward," 50 said.

Manny Pacquaio Explains 50 Cent Connection

50 Cent's apparent teaming with Manny Pacquiao caught much of the general public off-guard considering Pacquiao's long-standing rivalry with 50's good friend, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Pacquaio recently spoke to MTV about he and 50's plans to launch a promotions company, and says that the venture could lead to the long-awaited Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
"I love music, and he likes boxing also," he said. "We're talking about that and we're discussing. We didn't finalize yet because I'm so busy right now and he's busy right now...there's a possibility to make that fight [between Pacquiao and Mayweather] happen. Maybe not this time, but some other time. Right now I'm focused on December 8."
"We've very close to it, I've been talking to 50 Cent now for over a month and a half, close to two months. It's becoming a reality, more than a possibility," he said. "I think we're going to end up doing something together before the year is out...I believe [50 and Mayweather] have a true friendship and all true friends have arguments periodically, but that's not my business. Floyd is always welcome, if we put this together...[50 and Floyd] approached us, they came to us and initially it was 50 Cent, Floyd and Manny. We don't have a problem with Floyd. Manny doesn't have any anger or resentment."

Eminem Explains Bond WIth 50 Cent

Eminem has a tremendous amount of respect for his longtime associate 50 Cent. Em spoke at-length about 50's drive to succeed and revealed that he's seen that spark in his friend and collaborator the entire time that they've been recording together.
"Ever since we started making music with Fif, it was kind of like a mutual respect thing and we became friends outside of the music," Em said of their bond.
"If you put the music aside, we can just talk about [anything], you know what I'm saying?" he continued. "50 is very big on the business aspect in his career. I would consider him a smart businessman. Not saying that I'm not, but I don't get into as much of the technical aspect in the business sense. Like, I have no idea what's going on. Ever. I don't even know where I'm at right now."

50 Cent Resolves Label Issues

50 Cent's long-running issues with his label, Interscope Records, seem to have subsided at least for the moment. The rapper talked about his delayed forthcoming album and revealed that he no longer has any grievances with the company. He blamed their past differences on the pending end of their contract together.
"They're in full support of me now. We cleared up the audit issues," he said in an interview with MTV. "That's always an issue, when you get to the final album or the final requirement you end up going through the books with everything that you've done."
"Once those things are resolved, everyone is ready to get back to work, and that's where we're at," he added.

50 Cent Speaks On Brawl

Since seemingly everyone in entertainment has an opinion on the brawl that erupted last week between Drake and Chris Brown, its only fitting that 50 Cent added his two cents to the conversation. The hip hop superstar said that he may not have the details, but he didn't expect that kind of thing to go down.
"I was surprised," admitted 50. "I didn't know what happened. When you see the photos, you're like 'Oh, somebody started bumpin'.'"
"I thought someone hit someone with a bottle. And [instead,] they're throwing it like eh [throwing motion]! That's not...that's not even...I don't know what it even stems from. Is it how you feel about the person? They have in common a connection through [Rihanna]," he added. "Is it disrespect [about] who you are? Or is it about the actual girl? For me, I've been in situations where I've seen that the two lead reasons why you get laid out is over the money, or something to do with the girl."
"It's odd. I didn't really see them being involved in that kind of [thing]," said 50. "When [Drake] says something that was ill...it was always about something that consisted within relationships."
"Chris finna be Rick James out this motherf**ker."

Chief Keef Signs With Interscope

Just prior to taking the stage at Atlanta's Birthday Bash, rapper Chief Keef inked a record deal with Interscope Records. The teenage rapper from Chicago had been wooed heavily by several hip hop labels, most notably Cash Money Records and T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint, but ultimately decided to go with Jimmy Iovine's label.
"I've been talkin' to a lot of labels, but I just noticed that Interscope got people like 50, Eminem," Keef told RapFix about the decision.
Keef was also reportedly given his own label deal for his GBE imprint and was given a multi-movie film deal with Interscope's motion picture division. The rapper also was reportedly guaranteed his own Beats By Dre signature headphone line.

50 Cent Discusses the "N-Word"

50 Cent sat down with Oprah Winfrey for an in-depth interview where the hip hop superstar addressed the ongoing debate surrounding hip hop, fans and the "N-word." Oprah has spoken out against rappers' use of the term in the past, and admitted that she and rapper Jay-Z never found common ground on the controversial subject.
For his part, 50 says that context is the important thing to consider.
"When you're actually using it with malice in your heart, you can feel the difference," 50 said. "If it's being used by someone that you know isn't using it in a racial term, it doesn't impact the same."
"I just think you're identifying with how it originated and it should exist based on that (alone)," he added.

50 Cent To Sit Down With Oprah

After years of rumored contempt between them, Oprah Winfrey and rapper 50 Cent will finally have a face-to-face. The show has announced that the Queens-born rhymer will be appearing on "Next Chapter" next week, and will be interviewed by Oprah.
Oprah will also talk with Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris, in the episode.
In the early 2000s, Oprah made her disdain for hip hop and rappers like 50 Cent public knowledge. In the years since, she has seemingly softened her stance on the genre. She will interview 50 Cent at his grandmother's home for a show that will air on June 10th.

50 Cent Digs Cam'ron, Fat Joe?

50 Cent may have had his past issues with Fat Joe, but the Queens-bred hip hop superstar wasn't ashamed to mention Joe and other hip hop stars who's songs he's always enjoyed. 50 discussed some of the more popular tracks from Cam'ron, Busta Rhymes and Joe while pointing out songs that really grabbed him over the years.
"'357,' that's it," 50 said of Cam'ron's first hit. "'Horse and Carriage' didn't even mean that to me. That was like - Whenever an artist makes a joint that you listen to and go 'ooh' like that joint had me. The beat, the whole thing. It struck a chord in me, that's how-- Even for Busta, his portfolio of music, for me is 'Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See.' Even fat boy. Fat Joe, his was 'Lean Back.'"

50 Cent Releasing Album No Matter What

50 Cent’s anticipated mixtape, "The Lost Tape," was released yesterday (May 22nd) and the rapper is guaranteeing that his long-delayed fifth studio album will be released on July 3rd as promised--with or without support from a major record label. The untitled project has been delayed for years due to ongoing struggles between 50 Cent and Interscope Records.
“There’s a lot more business involved [in putting out an album] than the general public is aware of. And that part causes the actual delay with [Interscope]. I’m releasing my album July 3rd, whether is has commercial promotions or not,” he told AllHipHop. “My birthday is July 6 and I planned for it. And I’m doing everything that I planned to do regardless if its huge airplay or not. I could care less, I’m putting the record out.”
“I don’t need a record to sell. How much money you think I’ma make off record sales? You think I’ma sell 13 million records? Its starting to feel like that corner that I left,” 50 Cent explained. “I ain’t going to keep sitting on the records. Even if everything ain’t in order, album five will be out July 3 and they can wait another two years for me to give them another one.”
“I have new ideas so my passion for making the music hasn’t gone anywhere. That’s why I’m making music for free. The mixtape is for free unless DJ Drama is getting some paper I don’t know about. I need a piece of that paper,” 50 said, jokingly.

50 Cent Could Work With Wiz Khalifa

Rapper 50 Cent could be working with fellow hip hop star Wiz Khalifa on a track. 50 revealed as much during an interview with MTV News; while acknowledging that things hadn't gone much further than an exchange via Twitter.
According to 50 Cent, Wiz reached out while he was in the hospital recently recovering from a stomach illness.
"While I was sitting in the hospital, I saw Wiz Khalifa send a tweet out saying he got something, and he felt like it would be cool if I was actually on a record with him," 50 said. "So I responded to him and I told him, 'Let's work.' I'm feeling good, I was feeling better by the time that tweet went through, so I said, 'Send it,' and I'll speak to him a little later on. Stay tuned to hear what happens next because it's gonna go down.:"

50 Cent Explains Weezy/Floyd Connection

Boxing fans have grown accustomed to rapper 50 Cent hanging out with champ Floyd Mayweather in the ring, but during Mayweather's last fight, pop star Justin Bieber and rapper Lil Wayne were also in the ring. Weezy's presence raised some eyebrows considering his history of rivalry with 50, but 50 Cent explained why both stars being alongside he and Floyd makes sense.
"Floyd has a huge passion for music that people don't know about," 50 explained. "It's a big part of what makes him comfortable and takes his mind off of how hard he has to work to stay being the #1 fighter in the world. With Wayne's music momentum, he's a part of that; he's been a part of the playlist, so it's cool."
"The pictures, when I'm not paying attention, they take some really weird facial expressions of me," he said of his appearing angry in the pics with Floyd and Weezy. "I'm like, 'What the f--- was I thinking at that point?' It's nothing there to make me feel uncomfortable."
