Drake Hates Social Media?

Rap superstar Drake isn't a fan of social media. The Young Money rapper says that services like Tumblr and Twitter are affecting this generation in a negative way and encouraging people to live false lives.
“I’m really scared for my generation, you know," Drake told the Source. "The thing that scares me the most is Tumblr. I hate what Tumblr has become. Because it like, it reminds me of those cliquey girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool, but in five years, when you all graduate, that sh*t doesn’t matter. No one gives a f**k about that sh*t. Instead of kids going out and making their own moments, they’re just taking these images and living vicariously through other people’s moments. It just kills me. Then you’ll meet them and they’re just the biggest turkey in the world. They don’t actually embody any of those things. They just emulate. It’s scary man, simulation life that we’re living. It scares me.”
“I’ll tell you, my biggest thing was, I remember, it was on Twitter. I remember the day my mom was getting surgery and someone came on Twitter and they were like, ‘Yo, Drake, I hope your mom dies.’ You don’t really mean that," he added. "Like, you know you’re going to see something bad. Out of 1000 compliments, it’s so crazy. It’s basically, like, when you used to sit there as a kid, and want to know what everyone is thinking. That’s your superpower. [Twitter is] knowing what everyone is thinking.”

That's why I kinda like it know I use to think that myself everyone is living pointless lives but if these people can steer people in the wrong direction on FB what's keeping you from making corrections? Hugh fan I get you... even if you don't get me

true, but at the same time, Drake is idolized these cliquey high school chicks and dudes who imitate everything he does and its not like his messages in songs are CONSTANTLY positive. I find this ironic

People are gonna read it, say its true, but still post up on tumblr and twitter, even the one who made this point *shrug* its life some may change some may not, sad but true.

It's so true and sad that the internet has taking over everything!!!

^^^^ i mean post irrelevant/rude things blinding ppl from truth or reality.

It's true but, regardless if those sites didn't exist, the same problem he is talking about would still be present. Parents are the first to blame... look at the comment Anonymous @ 7:56PM posted, I know this isn't grammar school, but damn! Isn't it harder to type like an idiot and think it's cool, than just typing the word/sentence completely?

I think some amount of what Drake is saying is correct with respect to children but there are adults using social media to give off a certain perception of themselves. Social media is a powerful tool that,if used in the right ways, can open doors. Social media is not the problem-it's what people do with it.

man u know what, I can agree with drake on this up to a certain point. He makes the point that through these websites pple can be whoever they want to be...putting on a facade to mask who they really are! That's so funny to me that he would say that, because if you ask me...those kids arent doing anything different than celebs are...they photo-shop EVERY pic they take...were clothes that don't belong to them, have publicist to speak for them. It's no different from the fake life celebs lead..but I do agree that it is sad that ppl have to "promote" themselves. Just be you and live your life, stop trying to impress everyone! you only get ONE chance at it...

It's not any more fake than the lives they live on the videos the one who really balled out like that are broke today, and they make our local rappers even more whack cuz they rap about shit they dont own

Anyway who asked Drake to have an opinion we pay you to rap not think get back to work

Leaving something to the imagination is great, but there are those people out there who mean well. See the issue with social media has become the invasion of privacy. I for instance use my facebook to keep in touch with people that i would otherwise never see. I enjoy sharing my moments with my close friends and family. I don't have anyone on my page unless i know them and have talked to them in the last 6 months. This for me eliminates the amount of bs...coming my way. I can feel Drake when he says that we all know what " people are thinking". Too much information says to me that you don't have anything better to do, and that your communicating to the wrong crowed of people. People who spend all day documenting their journey instead of living it. This subject can be debated all day long. I believe in moderation...

From what I can remember he was an actor. What do actors do. Pretend to be something they are not. I understand stand Twitter and FB are running/ linked to everything thing. The social media's are there for tour thoughts if you dont want dumb ass/ negative comments don't post something dear or sensitive to the heart fuckin common sense. People don't understand the tard in their words. Outro

U can't blame the sites. The people make it look bad. That's like saying all black people are thugs or all Arabians are terrorist. People are the blame. People make the things meant to be fun and enjoyable a fake setting of lies. The computer can't put the bs up alone. Someone has to type and hit send. Idk how people got the impression that it's cool to post they're EVERY SINGLE move!!! I mean they lie about their lives before twitter; only difference is they now have a huge audience that believe it. Once again tech. can't make that up, just enhance the lie. So blame who is truly to blame; people...
