Fans of the classic 80s dramaLean On Me remember Joe Clark (Morgan Freeman) giving an impassioned anti-drug speech to young slacker Sams (Jermaine Hopkins.) Well, it looks like Hopkins didn't heed Mr. Clark's words--because he was busted in Arizona trying to purchase 200 lbs of marijuana.
Hopkins, who also played 2Pac's teary-eyed buddy Steele in the 1992 urban classic Juice, was charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana. Cops say the 38-year-old actor lives in North Carolina but traveled to AZ to gets the weed.
They found 100,000 in cash in his car and an additional 100 lbs of weed at an Arizona apartment. He is being held on $35,000 bond and faces 5 years in prison if convicted.
