Black Thought's Health Initiative

The Roots are supporting the ongoing fight against childhood obesity. Black Thought, co-founder of the GrassROOTS Foundation is hosting his annual "Let's Move It Philly!" charity concert. The band's homebase of Philadelphia will serve as the first in a 10-city initiative that is focused on battling childhood obesity in the African-American community.
Alongside Black Thought, Philly Mayor Michael A. Nutter, state representative Tony J. Payton Jr. and C.H.I.C.K.S. program director Joan Todd will be making appearances at the event and the GrassROOTS sponsored health fair.
The GrassROOTS Foundation was co-founded by Black Thought and sociologist Dr. Janice Johnson Dias. The foundation is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness initiatives among disadvantaged communities.
