Alicia Keys Is Dead For “Keep A Child Alive” + Kim Kardashian

[Lady] Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher and other celebrities have joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive. The entertainers plan to sign off of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day. The participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1 million.
“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said in a phone interview from New York last week.
For the campaign – which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz – celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.
“It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up,” Keys said. “It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.”
The campaign, she said, puts the disease in perspective.
“This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention,” said Keys, who has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter.
The foundation, which began in 2003, will accept donations through text messages and bar-code technology, which is featured in the charity’s Buy Life campaign. Raised efforts support families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
“We’re trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from?” said Leigh Blake, the president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive.
“It’s about love and respect and human dignity,” she added.

They are going to get their feelings hurt greatly. While a great cause this is poorly executed and at the wrong time. Especially when so many are infected here in the states with no assistance what so ever. Dec 1st marks the beginning of the christmas shopping season, with the country in the middle of a recession, unemployment skyrocketing, the foreclosure rate right behind it. People are not going to cater to this type of celebrity extortion especially from celebrities who have had visible issues on social networks already. Alicia had the swizz beats mashonda issue, the kardashians aren't even worth the celebrity status they got off their fathers name , usher is looking for a come up, lady gaga doesn't have the talent god gave a rodent and the list goes on. On other blogs as well on face book & twitter the fans are fighting mad and very upset at the lack of respect and the audacity that these "celebs" have to come to them to help and they are suffering. Fans already have stated they are boycotting or don't particularly care because certain celebs didn't update regularly anyway so its not like they(the celebs) will NOT be missed. Others are screaming thank god because they are ruining the social media experience . Who ever got this brilliant idea needs to be fired because alicia's name is already being thrown in the mud and people are starting to call her out her name remembering the swizz beats situation. I hope they got their publicist on speed dial because this is not going to end well, even the die hard fans are telling them off.

Its stupid, the entire thing is so stupid. The cause is nice but the way they are goin about it is just so stupid. There may n=be a few ass kissers out here thet will ride wit it but the real people with opinions and feelings will agree that this isnt the way or the time to be doing a charity like this. They should have more sense then this.

This ish is crazy and I would never play with my life like that...People will help if they can, but not just because you are pretending to be dead....I don't think GOD appreciates this one bit....and they better hope that he doesn't decide to take their lives foreal.....Their hearts are in the right place but their minds are not....I am praying for them ALL.

I think that the cause is great, but please don't forget about the people who are affected hear in the UNITED STATES. I lost a family member to this horrible desease, to see people lying in caskets is a poor desision to promote the fact that HIV and AIDS is killing so many people, all it does is bring back memories of seeing our family members, who have died from this desease, lying in caskets. Take more time to think about what your going to do before you do it. It's like having a family member killed and everytime you turn on the news, they are talking about it. DELPHIA

I think all the negative feedback about this is unnecessary. they are not acting like they are dead as if they have the disease. they are showing the death of the social media aspect of their life. and yes the holidays are coming up and yes many people will say that they have nothing to donate because of the recession and so forth, but many of these same people will be paying between ten and thirty dollars to get in a club and buy drinks this weekend. Alicia keys alone has over 2 million
followers on Twitter. they are only asking for a million dollars. if everyone gave just ONE dollar, then they will reach the million. some people just love to complain. get over yourself already. if you don't like what's being said about these people online, then don't read it, but otherwise shut up.

What I find stupid is the anger of some of you people. Also, what I find stupid is the complaining of the timing. What the heck does the timing have to do with it. Last time I checked, I didn't see a million dollars in my bank account. And according to the way you are complaining, neither do you. And Im pretty sure that it wasn't there before the recession. But im willing to bet that you all were still spending money on material things. People love to complain. Their life would mean nothing, if they couldn't complain. Furthermore, the person has nothing to do with the cause. If you are going to give, you would give, regardless to whom is spear heading it. If it is a true, good cause, then you give to the cause and not the person. This is just an excuse to cover up the real reason as to why you are not giving. Maybe you have not, because you give not. Maybe because you are always only thinking of yourselves.

They are not trying to remind you of the sadness of your lost, but that we are still losing lives to this
disease.

As one of the bloggers have stated, if you don't like what is being said, stop reading, watching, and listening. Just tune the freak out!

Why all the negative feedback. this brings awareness to an issue that can and does affects many people. For the people who have lost family members to this disease. My thoughts and prayers go out to you but pretending that it kills and sweeping it under the rug bcuz u have lost someone will not help. Ppl need to know that we have to stop this by awareness, by someone doing something shocking to bring it to the fore front. If you don't educate and protect yourself and others this is the conclusion. If you don't like this. Turn the other way, don't listen or read. Either get back under that rock or do something that will help it's so easy to be negative but helping is so much harder for some. I applaude all who had something to do with this.
I have had family members who died from aids. Seening someone in a casket does not hurt me bcuz my memories of them is the life they lived. Their smiles, how much they loved life and I know they would us to do whatever we can to stop this deadly diease from taking anyone eles. It will take more if we continue to be ignorant to this cause. Look what it has done it has us talking and this is better than being silent and sticking our heads under a rock. No I am not a follower, but if something make sense as this those then what are we fighting for some you you calling ppl names cuz they don't agree wit u. come on now get real. Aids Kills.

I think more attention needs to be paid to the AIDS situation worldwide. A day of not texting, blogging or other forms of social chat isn't going to make a difference. It's up to people to do something. How much money have been raised in prior years???? Where did the money go ????? Why are we still so far behind in developing a cure????? Losing a family member or friend motivates me to volunteering, donating, but seeing any entertainer in a coffin, do you really think that is going motivate me? I can't afford to buy a ticket to your show???? Are you kidding me???? It doesn't make sense. Ask for donations, volunteers, etc. This concept I just don't get. I hope it works, but I think it's a waste of valuable time, energy and money.

Celebrities do their part in helping person in need, especially a child. Other may think that this one is a foolish way of getting people's attention, but this celebrities believes that this is an effective way of convince people to donate and help.
