Cee-Lo Starring In "Sparkle" Remake

Rapper/singer/songwriter Cee-Lo will be starring alongside legendary vocalist Whitney Houston in a remake of the 1976 film Sparkle. The film follows three sisters from Harlem who form a successful singing group. The original featured a stellar soundtrack by Aretha Franklin, produced by Curtis Mayfield.

This updated version of the story takes place in the late 1960s, while the original was set in the mid 1950s.

Mike Epps, Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick are also slated to appear in the film. Singer/songwriter R. Kelly will be writing original music for the film, similar to Mayfield's role in the original version.
